To the best of my knowledge, all the deals on this laptop posted here before have been on the non-touchscreen version (including the yesterday one). This is with a touchscreen.

On Thunderbolt: Intel removed the licensing fee a few years ago, but AFAIK no AMD laptop has a Thunderbolt port. That's likely to change with TB4.

But unless you require an eGPU or the absolute fastest transfer rates with external storage (but Thunderbolt SSDs are quite expensive), then it doesn't really matter. The USB-C port on this laptop works just fine for Power Delivery and display port output, and enables single-cable docking.
Does this support dual display natively?

How does this compare to this one? Apologies if it's a rookie question. Just need a new one to replace my all-purpose laptop. Mostly need it for work from home needs but also use it as a home PC.

I'd take the ThinkPad. The IdeaPad is a consumer PC. The Slim 7i is on the high end of the IdeaPad lineup, with very nice premium build, but the ThinkPad is a better-engineered, business-class PC that's likely to last longer. In terms of performance, they'll both be plenty fast, but the 5650U has 6 cores vs the IdeaPad's 4, and it will be faster [cpubenchmark.net] esp. for multi-threaded tasks like video editing. The ThinkPad will also run a lot cooler and quieter, as the IdeaPad uses a higher-power H-series CPU (that's right, more power/heat but less performance - I like to joke that Intel is a better value since they give you a space heater for free!).

Don't forget to use id.me for military student/teacher/first responder etc. discounts, and check ca$h back portals that offer more than Slickdeals.
