Well it does sound like this 8T is not easy to unlock as the 8. Definitely not worth the extra $ and get extra hassle.

I tried everything including resetting the network settings and doing a factory reset. I fought it with for nearly a week before I threw in the towel. I spent over an hour on the phone with T-Mobile CS and talked to 3 different people. They said they had turned my case over to their network unlock (support?) team who would contact me with within 24-72 hours. That before Christmas and I still haven't heard from them. I RMA'd the phone and got a notification yesterday that paypal had received the refund.
Did you pay OnePlus for return shipping fee?

I chatted with T-Mobile today for very long time and they refused to unlock the device. I am returning it to OnePlus as well... Such a pity. I like the phone so much.

What reason did you pick when returning the phone, if you don't mind sharing?

"Bought the wrong product" and then say the phone cannot be unlocked?

Is there a specific carrier you have to use to ship back the phone? Or can you just use any like UPS, Fedex, USPS? I got my RMA label and just waiting to ship mine back.

The label that I received from OnePlus was a UPS prepaid label.

I don't remember exactly. I think I picked Other and then wrote that the phone could not be unlocked and that customer support had not been helpful. It probably doesn't matter too much if you're still in the 15 day return window.

The 8 is back in stock but no coupon codes so It's 249. They said they have a 14day price match . So if it gets cheaper within 14 days you can ask for it. Another person said if you use EDGE BROWSER you can get 6% cash back from bing. Might be something to check out.

Well I would not say Apple is leading the way in. Some yes but most of the features that they "introduce" are already in place by other phone manufacturers. Samsung created the first big phone; iPhone followed. Android had better notification; now Apple also has it.

But what we we cannot deny is that when Apple "introduce" a feature, it's most likely always polished, complete, properly and fully working. They focus on few hardware versions and ensure quality in those. It also helps that they control both the hardware and software.
Yeah that's very fair to say. iPhone hasn't really innovated in the last few iterations. Phones in general haven't changed much lately in my opinion. We'll see how Samsung's Flip3 catches on, though I'll be shocked if Apple releases anything similar like that in the next 2 years.

I have requested at least 20 times (among which 3 involved restarting the phone). The error code is 255 and it basically says "This mobile device is not eligible for unlock."
Has anyone tried purchasing one of the t-mobile prepaid plans, activating it, and then requesting unlock?

T-mobile has the "TMO Connect" for $15/month. Wondering if this is worth the hassle.

I'm on mint and need a better phone.

I have the 8 and not the 8T and it works on Mint Mobile. Easy to unlock

This is the 8t though. Seems like a few people on the last few posts are having trouble unlocking.
