I haven't found this to be remotely the case in my use. Smooth as butter, very quick and haven't had the first bug or glitch.
Be aware that if you are a Cricket customer looking for a phone to use on their network this will NOT work starting February of 2022. It has to be the IN2015, which the T-Mobile version is not.
lol where do you people come up with this stuff. i've had it for like a month and it's fine.

Do you need to verify enrollment?
You need to verify your .edu email address but you do not need to actually verify active enrollment. Unfortunately, everyone who purchased a OnePlus 8T with the student discount had their orders cancelled this morning so not only is that deal dead, it was never truly alive in the first place. But with that said, studentbeans does appear to be a valuable program to be enrolled in if you have an active .edu email address you can use.

My order was cancelled. Anyone faced similar issue
Everyone who used the student discount program to purchase the OnePlus 8T for $200 a day earlier had their orders cancelled this morning. But as far as I can tell, you're the first person to post about an order being cancelled at the $400 purchase price.

What was the stated justification for the cancellation, if any? OnePlus's site still refers to using StudentBeans to verify for discounts and the StudenBeans offer is still up on the SB website.

Also, I wonder if anyone who ordered more expensive phones with the discount had success.

As far as I can tell, they didn't cancel orders for more expensive phones because none of them had even close to the 49% discount the 8T had. They claimed they cancelled everyone's orders due to "a technical problem incorrect discount" and thought a voucher for a $100 backpack would be sufficient compensation for 150+ SlickDealers who just had their order cancelled without good reason. After all these customers (justifiably) expressed their frustration for how their orders were handled, OnePlus must have realized they had severely underestimated what kind of response these cancellations would result in because about 4 hours ago they sent out another email to update their stance and provide customers an additional voucher to honor the original $204 price. So, it all worked out in the end and we all managed to get a decent backpack and OnePlus 8T for $204 total. I personally would have loved to see this handled properly from the start, but there is also a lot to be said for a company able to recognize their mistake and take the appropriate actions to fix it.

Here is the cancellation email I received yesterday:

Hi XXXXX,

Greetings from OnePlus.
Hope you are doing well.

This is to inform you that your order XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX has been cancelled.

Due to a technical problem incorrect discount was added to the order.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused and we would like to provide you a free backpack voucher as a compensation.

Voucher code : XXXXXXXXXXXXX
Expiry date : 2022-05-01

Please feel free to contact us if you have any further queries related to OnePlus.

Take care and stay safe.

Regards,
Hailey Jones,

Thanks for the detail. At least they did the right thing in the end, but they clearly did not want to!

Are there any good discounts now through StudentBeans (for any OnePlus model)? My almost new 8 was lost/stolen and I really need to replace it!

The rest of the models are either 5% or 8%, so I would say no. But if I were you, I would consider going out on a limb and posting in the other thread just in case someone already bought a different phone after their first order was cancelled and now they have voucher code they don't plan to use. It's a long shot, but certainly not out of the realm of possibilities.

My OnePlus 6 has been having constant issues with random freezing and hanging on network use. Started the day I upgraded to 11. There are a lot of complaints about Oxygen 11.1.2.2 on multiple models. My OP6 has also been flawless from day 1 until Android 11. Agree about using a different ROM but not sure if the BL can be unlocked on these..
Same thing happens to my OnePlus 6. Then Cricket forced retired my completely working and not outdated phone. I won't buy from OnePlus anymore, and I doubted all the Android phones, only custom ROM will actually keep u updated. it's a fxxked up market.

I got my phone today and tried to unlock throught the settings and it did not work. I had a chat with TMobile customer care and they initially told me that I got the phone from OnePlus store so they need to unlock it. I told them that OnePlus told me TMobile will unlock it. CS rep did something for 10 mins and told me he has requested the unlock using some other method and it should be unlocked in 2 to 24 hours. I will check tomorrow and will post the update.

That's good to know, thank you! I mostly use Samsung edu from time to time for their discounts
