Good price, although the post title is misleading. Even though the set is currently $100 on Amazon, the normal Wal-Mart price is $44.
It has gone on sale for this same $21 price several times before. I own it and it's definitely a good deal at $21!
It's iffy whether it's even worth the $44 Wal-Mart list price tho. Definitely a rip-off at Kidkraft's $110 MSRP! Haha!
I think $44 likely represents Walmart's previous price (an intermediate markdown) and not a list price. Yeah, I included the hyperlink to Kidcraft's $110 list price just so people would believe me. Thank you very much for your review of this set.

I actually don't think Wal-Mart's list price is wrong. Amazon's price was around the same price point for 8 years until it skyrocketed to $100 earlier this year.
It would appear that someone is trying to play some goofy mind games with the price. 🧐

I bought this one of the last times and it sucks. The track pieces are ok but everything else is trash. The magnets on the trains suck, so they never stay together. The truck with the flatbed is beyond frustrating. I ended up 'losing' it because I got tired of my son always crying because it wouldn't stay together. If you want the track, it's ok but it's all iffy quality. My recommendation is to take a hard pass on this.
So true. Seeing as this set is compatible with other major wooden train brands, this set might be a really inexpensive way to get more track pieces. The bulldozer, truck, crane, train, trees, signs, people are bonus.

We had the same experience. It wouldn't stay together.
I wouldn't recommend it either.

I'll just throw it out there, I managed to amass a huge collection of wooden track pieces by picking them up cheap or free on NextDoor. So many compatible companies and parents give away their collections pretty commonly once the kid ages out. I think I ended up with 4 kids life collections for less than $20. YMMV in more rural areas.

Either way, $21 is a good value for this set.
