To the poor sap who just finished repackaging the Christmas Switch, these Walmart codes can be purchased and saved in an email without using (or even owning) the Switch.

Once the system is up and running just go to the home screen of the eshop and find "enter code" at the bottom left to redeem the Walmart code. Same for bb and Amazon.

Just don't lend to shady people.

And I guess some people feel different. I beat Mario odyssey 100%, and never touched it again. I was able to sell it for $50 and used it towards another game. You can't do that with digital.

Another digital game thread, another argument about physical vs digital. There is no one answer.

Good deal for digital. One and done. No worry about losing stupid lil cartridge that for instance children may someday lose it which is rather inevitable (all part of growing up but this this pricey anyhow)
At the sacrifice of never being able to sell the copy once you get bored with it, borrow it, or Nintendo decides to lock you from their digital library.

I just like to buy physical copies of first party Nintendo games because they hold their value well (see current used prices on first party GameCube games)

It's more annoying switching cartridges on the switch with the flap though

Also, it's important to note that some people lost their library access when the Nintendo eshop shut down on the Wii. I was luckily able to get some of mine, but there are two games I remember that I lost forever because I kept getting a download error, and the troubleshooting function didn't work due to being within the eshop that was closed.

Yes but that doesn't mean the 3DS for example will suffer the same fate. It still up there and Nintendo may eventually have them available to the Switch at lil to no cost considering the 3DS was the last true dedicated handheld console. As long there will be improvements in specs, those 3DS library will be available to "upgrade" to Switch at lil to no cost. That just my theory/prediction for years to come.

WiiU library being down? Yeah I can see that happening since Nintendo made it irrelevant. Not for the 3DS!

Exactly, that's why it not worth taking chances for something you don't have control over. After all game sharings made it easier to begin with.

If you're really gonna sell at least then yeah do it before price tanks thanks to digitalism that takes demand away from you. Otherwise, resale value don't matter. It's your joyous possession.

I will never sell my physical copy of the Pokémon Crystal, even if someone offers me $500 after eshop take it down for good. ($500 is not enough to change my life LOL) The game is really well made. Those quality games meant to be preserved for life IMO.
