I have this laptop. It doesn't have Thunderbolt, just USB c. How can I use 2 monitors with it, or do I have to have Thunderbolt? Great laptop.
Use a USB-C to DP/HDMI cable or dongle to connect to one monitor and HDMI output to connect the another. Alternatively, if you have a monitor that supports DP daisy-chaining (the monitor will have both a DP input and DP output), then you can connect two monitors with just one cable to the computer.

I thought I saw that the s variant only had soldered ram, at least on the regular T14 1 of the dimms are user replaceable.
That's correct, T14s only has soldered RAM, T14 has one DIMM slot in addition to soldered RAM. This is true of both G1 and G2, Intel and AMD.

One of the comments in the Thinkpad posts earlier mentioned that the BF coupons are still valid. Can configure a killer T14 Gen2 with that. Steps are below
Windows is so bloated now that in time, 128 GB may not be enough for the drive containing the operating system, even if that's the only thing there. Cloning it and trying to use another hard drive as the primary one may not work.

Careful with any primary hard drive less than 256 GB, in my opinion. nod

OMG, been waiting for this deal on a thinkpad!

I maxed out all specs for a total of 1160.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1...sp=sharing

That's 4k display, 5850U, 48gb ram, "backlit keyboard" WAN LTE card, and card reader!
Took the 128gb ssd, will be swapping for something better!

Make sure you choose the backlit keyboard, it's not obvious that it doesn't include it!

The difference between 32gb ram and 48gb ram was $130, all the 32gb ram modules on amazon were more than $130 so getting it from the factory is a better deal!

I will be swapping out the SSD, I am going to put a Samsung 980 Pro 1TB in her!

12 months no interest payments! it's a deal man!

This is arguably the best deal for a Highspec Thinkpad I've seen since Black Friday!

btw make sure you go throu R10 for extra 8% cashback and enable your SD extension!
Thanks for posting this. I just canceled my order for the ThinkPad X13 Gen 2 AMD (13") 20XHCTO1WWUS1. It's like an ~$80 difference for the ThinkPad T14 Gen 2 AMD (14") 20XKCTO1WWUS1 laptop with a larger, high quality display, more RAM, an actual on-board RJ45 port (no adaptor required), and a 4G Mobile Broadband (don't know if I'll use it, but could come in handy). Now just have to patiently wait another month for it to ship Frown

I think the idea was to get the laptop for the lowest price while keeping the other high-end specs. I'm replacing the m.2 ssd as soon as I get mine!

Windows 11 is new, after all...

EDIT: It looks like there are built-in tools, but there is still the possibility of serious problems. Better to be safe/sure imo and have 256 GB minimum for operating system hard drive, and even then to use only Windows on it imo.

Yes, of course but how can you be 100% certain that the replacement will operate properly with Windows? There have been a lot of issues with cloned drives over the years. Have they been remedied?
You don't need to clone it. Do a fresh partition and install. Most manufacturers embed the activation key in the BIOS anyway..

I seriously hope that it doesn't take that long.

Maybe if enough people take up this deal… they'll make a special Christmas batch for us Big Grin

Sounds reasonable, but I for one would not take the slightest chance with a $1K laptop. These are the days of tighter and tighter controls, and Windows 11 is brand new.

Regardless, great deal for what this is. OP repped and 2 magical thumbs up! nod

I'm typing this to you on an 8 year old Yoga 2 Pro, still going strong.
I still have my OG Yoga that I got from the outlet. It works and isn't a horrible experience. I think I upgraded the SSD at some point, but other than that it's been smooth sailing. I should probably get rid of it but it's hard to say goodbye.

I am pretty sure all ssd drives used in modern laptops are m.2 pcie nvme. (same one used in PS5).

pretty sure they are all going to work, Lenovo isn't apple!

Samsung's included cloning software worked flawlessly for me in the past, all you need to do is to purchase a usb to m.2 adapter or external enclosure. boot up the machine with the original drive, attach the new m.2 via usb adapater, run the samsung Magician, clone the drive and install it!

If clone doesn't work, it's pretty easy to simply install windows 11 from a usb stick using rufus.
You don't need a key as all of these modern laptops the key is burned into the bios and will oem activate. all drivers should be available on Lenovo's site.
