OMG, been waiting for this deal on a thinkpad!

I maxed out all specs for a total of 1160.

That's 4k display, 5850U, 48gb ram, "backlit keyboard" WAN LTE card, and card reader!
Took the 128gb ssd, will be swapping for something better!

Make sure you choose the backlit keyboard, it's not obvious that it doesn't include it!

The difference between 32gb ram and 48gb ram was $130, all the 32gb ram modules on amazon were more than $130 so getting it from the factory is a better deal!
(edit found a better deal on ram module than paying lenovo for it).

But its Christmas - so here is a hack to still get this deal from Santa...

I tried and worked - Ofcourse its YMMV

1. On the cart screen, convert the cart to a Quote, you should see the option at the bottom of the screen once signed in

2. Then go to the quote in your account. Convert the quote to a cart.

3. Checkout with the discounted price.

The quote won't work if you try to create it on the checkout screen.

Very strange spec. 32GB RAM with only 128GB disk seems very odd. I don't see many uses cases where this makes sense.

I have free lines from T-Mobile promotions that I don't always use in Phones, the SIMs work great in Laptops with LTE WWAN cards.

Comes in Handy when you are on the go and don't have Wifi or isn't a Wifi that you have access to. It's one of those Nice to Haves, when you can basically get Internet anywhere kinda like your SmartPhone.

The 14s while thinner has a lot of tradeoffs, depends on what you are going for Thin and light or a little thicker with more options.

The 14s needs a dongle for wired ethernet the standard 14 doesn't.

The 14s has all SOLDERED ram max 32gb, the 14 has 16gb SOLDERED, 1 slot free 48gb max.

The 14s maxes out the screen at 1920x1080, the 14 at 4k, I saw people complain about the Privacy screen as well on the 14s, plus the brightness is lower. I passed on that deal, but hopefully the screen is okay for you.

There's no WAN LTE card option on the 14s either.

For my intents and purposes, I am glad I went with the 14 Gen2.
