Always wanted a Ring Door Bell but now there are so many Ring models and competitors.
I have an old style doorbell with indoor chime and Alexa Echo Show 5 on my desk, wondering if I could power both from the same wire? Lots of research to do, any websites you know of that might help?
Thanks.
Just a note for anyone interested, this version will not activate the in house chime if you have one installed currently with your current doorbell as noted in the description:
*This device must be paired with a Ring Chime to hear audio alerts in their home

Not to get philosophical but is it even a doorbell? Or a camera that uses your doorbell wiring with an aftermarket altering and intercom system?
So lame it won't work with existing chime, terrible engineering, that should've been a design requirement.

I'm in agreement with you 100%. I purposely went with another option because it seems ridiculous to me not to utilize the in house chime system if it's already installed.

We bought our house remodeled and they removed out doorbell chime in the process, put in a basic wireless one (plug-in chime). I imagine this is just a lot easier to install and change out later. They re-did the entire wiring during the remodel (all new electrical, house was re-laid out down to the studs) so it's not like they didn't have easy access. I've seen this with a lot of remodels in our area (doorbell button replaced with a basic wireless one)
