I grew up collecting and wearing Fossil watches so I credit them for getting me interested in watches (I have a large collection of micros and Swiss made automatics now). That being said, I really wish they'd make some simple, clean Swiss automatics instead of all these skeletonized monstrosities with Chinese movements. Fossil Group owns Zodiac and STP so they have the ability to create some awesome timepieces if they wanted to.

Not a great sale. I've seen some of these watches at Ross and TJ Maxx for way less.

I own two fossil watches and have had both for about 8 years. Only thing I've had to replace are the bands and the battery. No other problems and they still look nice.
All Quartz movements practically never break because it uses an electronic circuit and pulse. Less moving parts and complications unlike a manual watch. That's why they're so cheap. But it's like saying you're cheap print of the Mona Lisa is just as good as the real thing. It kind of is, but you and everyone else knows it's not.

Great deal! I just snagged a nice mechanical watch that was $279 for $83 with the additional 50% off. This deal is definitely legit. Can't wait to get my new watch!

Anyone else get a message saying that the order couldn't be placed due to high volume/to resubmit the order? Doesn't seem to work for me

So I've had my fossil q founder for about 5 years now and it's going strong but I only use it to see my phone alerts/messages. Anyways, do smart watches come out every year like phones? I'm tempted to get the gen 5 or gen 5e. Anyone have comments on those?

Strongly disagree. I think you just agreed with the person you were responding to, quartz movement is far more durable than mechanical. Additionally, they keep more precise and accurate time, even before you get in to models that can receive sync signals from NIST. The only reason to get a mechanical watch is the novelty of something as old fashioned as gears, as well as the perceived social status of some brands. It's all the trend of brand as religion.

It's like owning a lambourgini. It doesn't do much different than a used F1500, but when people see you have it, it most definitely gets them talking about you or it. Positive or negative, it doesn't matter. You are on their mind because you have something they dont.

Thanks I ended up getting the Gen 6 last night for $229 and got $57.25 cash back. Looks like they are back up to $319 now. (I was only offered 5% through capital one shopping)

I started with Fossil as well. I used to love watches, now I just stick with my Citizens. It is extremely durable which I love. Wear it everywhere - pool, beach, nice dinners, work, mowing the lawn. I generally am a modest person, but I get 2-3 compliments on the watch a year. Just an all around good looking solid watch.

In middle school I had a family friend who sold knock off Tag watches, had like 3 of them. Always wanted to buy a real one. My biggest concern is having a $2k watch sit on my dresser. One of these days I'll just say F it and pull the trigger.
