These have a better score at rtings.com for neutral sound, but a lot of people don't seem to think these are significantly better than the Porta Pros. They are probably going to offer a wider soundstage due to their size and a more neutral sound, but with some other trade offs. Probably a better headphone overall compared to the Porta Pros but I doubt the average person would notice the difference. If you're looking for a step up from the Porta Pros, consider spending more and getting the SHP9500. They have been on sale for as low as $50, but I haven't seen it that low in a while. I wouldn't be surprised if they can still be on sale for as low as $60-$65. That is a big jump from these, but consider that you are getting better headphones rather than having another pair of headphones that will be similar to what you already have. From what I've read, the Samson have mediocre ear pads and replacing them with with Brainwavz pads will set you back another $20-$25, so the price difference between these with the pads replaced and the SHP9500 is not that significant. I'm trying to stop myself from buying these because I get urges to splurge on cheap headphone deals, but I already have a pair of Monoprice headphones that I never use and I realize it's much better to have a few pairs of quality headphones that excel at their specific uses than a bunch of headphones that I won't touch.
Still have an love these headphones after over a year of use 👍
I have a bit of a headphone collecting issue, though wondering how these compare to Koss Porta Pros? They're so cheap but look like they've got solid frequency range.

Whoa appreciate the detailed answer! Like you I've got a bunch, each with their own value, some noise canceling, some bass heavy, some wireless, some wired, etc…and yet I get pulled into these deals. I try to sell off headphones I don't use when I get new ones to limit it to 1-2 per use case.
Got this 2 weeks ago when it dipped to $25 on BH. I'm no audio aficionado, but I think it sounds good. It's true what people say about the ear pads though, they are terrible; primarily, they are too small and the headphones rest on top of your ears. Waiting on new pads from AliExpress.

It would be great if you could reply back with updates about this new pads. I'm looking for something for similar but don't want to spend $20+ on Brainwavz brand pads for $20 headphones.

I bought the 105mm ones here. Think I saw it rec'd on reddit.
Bought these during the last sale and they sound fantastic. Probably gonna switch the pads on these eventually but for $25 these are definitely worth it.
Thanks. I might consider these for the Monoprice headphones if they fit. I hope you can post some kind of review or first impressions of them when you receive them.

I'm not sure. I'm not a headphone collector by any means. I use this to record music and listen to music. It sounds a whole lot better than the free set that I got with my electronic drum kit. I got another as a backup in case anything ever goes wrong
