Amazon has the Quest 2 elite hard head strap for $34.

Not sure when this deal expires but was just looking it up for a friend that got a quest 2 for Xmas. I'm a frugal dude (thus my love for SD) but this is an absolute must have and well worth the price.

Actually the one with the battery is a must have. This one's probably a should have.

Do you have to charge the battery separate from the head unit?

This isn't the elite strap, this is just the hard head strap. The elite is currently $99 at gamestop

No.. The battery plugs into the main unit and you charge the battery. You could charge both using 2 chargers for a faster charge though.

It's setup as a pass-through. The battery strap plugs into the headset, and there is a port in the battery for the charger. As a bonus, it means fewer cycles and less wear/tear on the Quest port.

I have the elite + battery, but given the choice today (vs at launch) I'd probably get this and velcro on a small pack (the OEM is only 5000mAh) to the side.

Edit: - something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09D2R2C8X/ with a right angle connector like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B096VYVR17/ Add some velcro or VHB tape and good to go. The only real loss (other than aesthetics) is it won't show the charge level of the external battery in the headset (the OEM shows both battery charge, iirc).

That one is the same strap just with a built in battery pack.

I have the battery and love it, but I could live without it if I had to. The included strap on the other hand is pretty atrocious. A lot of ppl may not want to dump $100 into a battery/strap, but $30-$40 is a lot easier to swallow and really enhances the experience.

Best Buy, Amazon and other retailers have it listed as "Quest 2 Elite Strap". Even the official Oculus website has this listed as Elite, so you can take your thumbs down back. Not sure why GameStop has omitted the word elite.

$39 for me too. This one is $26, anyone try this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08PYTL...rPXRydWU=? I'm looking for a second strap for a second head. It's a pain in the rear to adjust one head strap for two different sized heads evey 5 minutes when swapping back and forth. I think it'll be easier to swap straps already sized for the next wearer. Maybe.

All lithium batteries can fail. Every single model of Apple and Samsung phone has had a lithium battery fail. Every single model. If you think that Meta has somehow magically created a battery that cannot fail you are a fool. They can barely make plastic for the arms of this strap, having had to replace a ton of them due to material failure. I think I'd trust a commercial battery pack more.
