These are lovely sounding, though you will want to have an amp on these. Great deal.

Just a heads up if you have a big head these have very tight clamping force. You get used to it/they will break in but it takes some time

How do you like pc38x for gaming? I'm waiting for mine to get delivered any day now. I heard 6XX was trash for gaming.
I've been testing the PC38x and HD560s for the past month. If you play competitive FPS games, I would definitely recommend the HD560's. They are much better at pinpointing positional audio than the PC38x. The advantage of the PC38x is they already have the convenience of the built in mic. However, you can pick up a boom mic for the HD560s for relatively cheap, then you also have the flexibility to remove it when you aren't using them for gaming. I'm sending the PC38x back, for me the HD560's were much better.

They adjusted the Drop + THX AAA 789 linear amplifier I bought from them two days ago when it dropped by $100 this morning.

I ordered it. I already have the HD598se. Hope this is a good upgrade to that. I also have the Phillips Fidelity X2 but it is falling apart. I am having second thoughts though since I might have preferred a wireless one at this point in time. Hopefully it does not require an expensive dac/amp.

what audio source do people use for stuff like this? spotify? lossless local files? always wondered if it's worth the extra effort of something like lossless vs. the ease of just pushing play on a spotify playlist.

First thing first, I am not a audiophile at all. I just got my HD6XX on last Black Friday deal based on the comments on this wonderful forum.

Before HD6XX, I only have Experience with AirPod Pro and Philips SHP9500.

I must say the 6XX is exceptionally good, great soundstage and details, it is way way better than AirPod Pro.

I mostly listen classical music and opera. HD6XX really elevate the listening experience to another level.

Add this price point , I highly recommend it.

How does it compare vs the SHP9500. Is it worth the extra $100 for these? Would you say one is better at some things than the other?

Lossless file gains are fairly minimal overall. I'd rate it close to the last thing that needs upgrading. You can do a trial of Apple music to compare lossless/hi-res to Spotify if you want. It'll be tough to jump ship if you are fully entrenched in Spotify though.

Well, I would say SHP9500 has a bit wider soundstage while HD6XX has much better details.

Considering the price of SHP9500 ( I bought it around $40 two years ago), I think HD6XX is a very decent upgrade.
My point is, if you already own a 200-300 price range headphone, maybe, you may want to upgrade to another price range level.

Jus my 2 cents

Yes. I do pair it with a portable DAC, the 'Fiio Q5s

If you dont want to buy an amp to power these headphones, a good alternative is the HD58x.

I have the 58x and because they are easy to drive I use them for gaming by plugging them into my PS5 controller

I use the PS5 built in mic (not the best quality but not playing FPS games 80% of the time) and the HD58x sound better for listening to music than the PC38x (which also have some QC and build issues)

You mean pay almost double? Also, just because you watched some youtubers say they're the best doesn't mean they are the best for everyone. It depends on the genres you listen to and what your sound preference is.
