These are lovely sounding, though you will want to have an amp on these. Great deal.

Just a heads up if you have a big head these have very tight clamping force. You get used to it/they will break in but it takes some time

They're completely different sound signatures. HD560s is more neutral and analytical. The HD6xx is more colored with forward mids and slightly recessed highs. The HD560s has a bigger soundstage. The HD6xx scales much better with better amps. It also depends on the genre of music you listen to. The HD560s is more comparable to to the HD660, in terms of sound signature.

I must say the 6XX is exceptionally good, great soundstage and details, it is way way better than AirPod Pro..
I do understand this is your first foray into the >$100 headphones but the HD6xx are considered "intimate" in their soundstage. Most headphones have larger soundstages in the audiophile category, but they are amazing in the genres you said you listen to.

You mean pay almost double? Also, just because you watched some youtubers say they're the best doesn't mean they are the best for everyone. It depends on the genres you listen to and what your sound preference is.
I did not watch any youtubers actually and I A/B tested them myself.
Price was not double not even close, I paid $274 shipped vs $195.78 from drop.

Sound is definitely subjective but I stand by my case, spend a bit more and get the Sundaras, my personal circle enjoys the Sundaras more than the 6xx.

Which Sundaras model if you don't mind me asking?
Wasn't sure there were specific models. I supposedly got the batch after their first batch with very minor revisions if any.

I have the hd600, Focal Elex, and the AKG 712 pro. They all sound different and do better with certain genres. I'd never say the Elex are better than any of them as a recommendation, even though 90% of the internet comment section experts would say so. I bet you couldn't find a single headphone forum that'd have over 20% of the commenters that say they'd choose the Sundaras over the Elex but I definitely wouldn't tell people to pass on the Sundaras and just buy the Elex. Different people listen to music where the HD6xx performs better than he Sundaras and there are many people that would prefer the sound signature of the HD6xx.

Are you really telling me you didn't watch s single review on YouTube before spending almost $300 on headphones? I'm going to call BS on that.

It's all a big circle of "but this sounds better"...sundara guy is countered by Tygr300r fans, I've legit read people say they liked Tygr300r over Sundara. So just take all the recommendations with grain of salt. 560s better for gaming then 6xx, 6xx best for vocals, etc etc, nothing is totally the best. If possible buy all 3 or 4 and return all but one, not everyone can fiscally do that but it's only true way to know.

First of all you cannot A/B test based on 1 data point since it is a statistical conept. You mean you like Sundara more than HD6XX.

What you paid to Sundara is not an answer to an argument that they cost twice as much. If $274 shipped is a price still valid please share with us otherwise it is irrelavent. If I had received it as a gift in Christmas, does this make the price $0 for others? Also current shipped price for HD6XX is $169 + tax which makes $188 even in California not $195.

So you compare two headphones one for $169 + tax new, other $349+tax new as of now.

Here is a comparison of these two headphones. It is subjective but I don't think the difference is big. I don't know which model of Sundara you have but if you compare to 2018 model the difference is even less.

You lost all your credibility linking rtings as the comparison between headphones. They are the bible for tvs and monitors but they are pretty garbage for all other things (mice, keyboards, headphones, etc).

Also 6xx is $179 + tax vs Sundaras are currently $299 with no tax (hifiman does not charge tax here) they frequently have $25+ off coupons.

Why would I have to watch youtube reviews on audio gear? I just do my reading on ASR and other venues.

YouTube is only one resource. If you only use asr then you're going to get the biased opinion based more on measurements. I use many different sites.

New to audiophile headphones. I mostly listen to music on PC(Tidal/YouTube). I bought these headphones. Do I need an amplifier for my PC? If so, can some pls suggest a good amplifier <$150.

Are you just picking and choosing what you read? I said OTHER venues along with ASR.

I just prefer reading over watching. Everyone is different which is also the point of audio gear.

Personally Sundaras are better at majority of genres than the 6xx, while the 6xx I like for classical and instrumental music. Hence why I rec the Sundara's over the 6xx if you are only getting one pair.

But you gave just a blanket suggestion of spending the extra money for the Sundara. I've heard the Sundaras, great headphones but I'd choose the Elex as a better overall headphones for me...which I did when they went on sale, but they probably get the same amount of ear time that my other headphones get, because the other ones do better in certain genres and I listen to a very wide range of music(except country). Why tell people what to buy when you don't know their preferences for sound is or what genres of music they listen to?

Did you look at their reviews? They tested both headphones in a lab with a standard methodology (v1.5 for both). And you say your subjective view is more credible. Also most reviewers do not use lab equipment to test headphones. They are influencers paid by companies.

About prices $299 is open box so if you want to compare them to HD6XX you should use new price not open box. Otherwise we can find both headphones cheaper in ebay as used like new. Also everyone can get $10 discount by using a new email to order so price is $169 not $179 and I don't see any $25 coupon right now. And even we assume all thse are true still we are looking at $169 vs $275 still more than 60% higher so not a fair comparison.

Another point related to price is that I read and heard from multiple reviewers that HD6XX is good with most amplifiers while Sundara needs a good amplifier to reach to its potential (I think because Sundara is a planar). This makes the total price difference between these choices even higher.

One final point, I read people still using their even 15 years old HD600 in forums etc. but I see many Hifiman cans are broken after just a couple of years. Yes sound is important but this is also important for me.

This is a choice. You can find better cans than Sundara but probably you were not willing to pay that much and others decided for HD6XX. Nothing wrong with any of these choices. They are both very good headphones no need to insult the other to justify our own choices.
