I can't talk for LG because I haven't seen it in person but I was at Best Buy yesterday and got blown away by this Sony picture quality.

I am also in the same dilemma. G1 has a 5 year warranty including burn-in protection. I am only concerned about the motion handling of G1 compared to the Sony. Not sure whether Sony is much superior in that regard.

For what it's worth, my brother is looking for one of these because it's very highly rated for bright rooms

How does the LG warranty compare to the one Costco offers?
Looks like the labor is not covered by LG from year 2
Might as well end up buying 3rd party warranty

Check out Vincent's g1 to a90j comparison for in depth details. https://youtu.be/EtupV1xGEmI

Note that vrr/120 is now becoming available for Sony TVs so if gaming (with high refresh rate) is important you may want to check for reviews on those newer firmware's.

The C1 is $1899. I don't think the Sony is worth the extra $900, but that's just my opinion.

I've seen and read comparison reviews likening the A90J to be about 10% better than the A80J.

Same question here. For me its deciding between 77" A80J vs 65" A90J. My viewing distance is about 9.5ft, so I'm leaning towards bigger screen.

Never use a store's display as a barometer for picture quality of a tv.

I'd go with the 77 A80J. A90J is better but it's not that much better to get a 65 over the 77. I have the A80J and it's phenomenal, zero complaints coming from a Plasma to this set.

For those options, I would go with 77" hands down. The picture quality drop off from the A90 to the A80 isn't significant, and the viewing immersion you'll experience with a screen that's 12" bigger will win out over the slight difference in picture quality. It would be akin to fear of missing out on a Lamborghini (65" A90) when you have a Ferrari (77" A80).

Put another way, if the A90j wasn't in Sonys lineup, the A80J would likely be competing for Picture quality king against the G1.
