Picked this up almost two years ago and have used it three times, about 3-6 hours each time. In fact, just ran it yesterday during power outage due to snow in Seattle. Been very happy with it GIVEN price/value -- eg this is not a 2000+ watt Honda inverter, or 4000+ watt ol school, etc...nor is it $500, $1000, and more.

I have a similar 1000W invertor and it struggles/cannot run my full-size fridge. Sometimes the start-up surge power instantly overloads it, sometimes the fridge will start and run for 2mins before the invertor kicks into overload.

Not knocking the posted item, but just saying if you're buying this with the intention to run a full-size fridge, I'd error on the side of caution and bump up one size.

Great little genset. I've run this for a few years now and for light loads, it's nice to have around.

After doing some searching I also see a Sportsman Gen1000c and a Sportsman Gen1000i, the Gen1000i is also on sale at TSC for $20 more ..any idea whats different between the 3 model numbers ?

Yes, most full size fridge/freezer combos pull less than 1000 watts so a smaller one should be fine.

While this would certainly power it, most folks opt for a battery backup as the sump doesn't run constantly. Depending on your needs a battery backup can last literally days.

Depends on what the surge amps of the pump are

I used this as backup with the solar setup in my off-grid teardrop.
It doesn't handle the surge so well, especially at altitude, had to plug coffee maker directly into a 1000W (2000 surge) inverter, rather than the camper outlets.

On the other hand, it's super quiet, crazy light, and runs a long time on little fuel.

I've since upgraded to dual fuel 2500W Champion, for the LP runtime and less fuel system maintenance, but haven't had it at altitude yet.

Would this be good to use at farmers markets and flea markets to power a small 1x30 belt sander? I've been asked to setup a vendor table at a few of them this spring but I need a non-gas powered inverter/generator.

I've looked into this one before. People say it doesn't get near 1000 watts and your lucky to get 800 max, and more realistically are looking between 600-800w to run consistently well. This might not even run a large fridge like mine.

The above video convinced me to get something larger. You can snag a 2200 for around 300 occasionally from a reputable manufacturer

Is it possible to hook it in a way as a house's backup power? for lights and e.g., starting of gas based heating/hot water?
