Of the 3 topbransds, Asus, Netgear, Linksys...TP is the POS of the bunch...unreliable, cheap ass, low performance, 50/50 chance of it working as advertised! You've been warned. ╭∩╮ᵔᴥᵔ╭∩╮
How many TP routers have you had to make such claims? I'm wondering.

Bought it for $250 last month. They'll price-adjust, right?

UPDATE: Been over 30 days so I guess the answer will be no.
They'll probably allow it since you could just return it then re-purchase it.

Why routers nowadays look more and more like creatures from Skull Island?
Is either this or something that resembles the stealth fighter/bomber or a TIE-fighter.

They just want something that looks cool and menacing..... in reality a cylinder router would perform the same.

I have to agree with Nuocmamstyle on this one. I've had all 3 of those brands die on me with under 2 years of use. I've gone Ubiquiti since, and I'm not even looking back. Also, with Ubiquiti my Wi-fi network doesn't get destroyed by interference that was absolutely wrecking the network with TP-Link, even though on paper the TP-Link was supposed to be better.
I had a TP-Link router that gave me tons of issues. Been happy With my Google Wifi router for years, but I need something more powerful and Wifi 6.

I was trying to get the Ubiquiti Wifi 6 Pro, but stock issues have prevented that. I found out TP-Link has a commercial line, that seems to work pretty well. TP-Link EAP660 HD https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08PW34WPX
It arrives today, so we'll see how well it works.

I have 1GB service, my computer is over Wifi with a Wifi 6 card and sits about 30 feet away from router with a few walls in between. Will this router get me close to 1000mb/s over wifi?

My current ISP wifi gets me 200-500 mbps burst but consistent download speed is right around 100mbps over WIFI.
No. The rule of thumb is if you can "see" the router, there is a good chance. But if its through a standard sheet rock 2x4 wall, your chances are slim. One wall you are looking at 500-600mbs tops.

Currently running Netgear R8500 AC5400 router with 54 devices hooked up. At least that is what is says. Brought for $139 I'm in a 2,000 sq ft single story home. Router pretty much middle of the home. Everything seems ok but after 3 close to 4 years I'm noticing I'm having to do a few resets once in a while. I'm only running cox internet at 500 up and 10 down. Most of my stuff is cameras and smart home things. Not sure I really need Mesh not sure I really need something like this either. Do need something that can support a lot of devices though.
This is probably a perfect fit for your use case. You might not see a ton of improvement until you switch to 1gig internet OR you already own AX devices (I.e. newest laptops or phones)

YES! But only via WiFi (no Ethernet backhaul) and only with devices on the below list. I haven't tried one mesh, so I can't comment on how well two of these would work together. https://www.tp-link.com/us/onemesh/product-list/

I learned these tarantula antennas don't necessarily equal better signal. I recently replaced a problematic Netgear X6S with a much cheaper 2 antenna RAX35V2, night and day; no more daily reboots or often disconnected clients (~50); no more xoom stutters. I hated that router. Even my OG Nighthawk r7000 was better equipped.

Bought 2 routers and a few adapters..they NEVER perform as stated and always dropped signals. My mistake for being cheapass!

I just got an Asus ax86u because I appreciate what Asus has done with routers and the good range that it has.

How would these two compare?

As a note, I only currently pay for fios 300/300 internet, do have a computer with 2.5gb, and will be running a file/home cloud multimedia server.

So I picked up the orbi rbr750 refurb from woot, but it's been a real headache getting it going... I think the lack of discrete 2.4 vs 5 ghz SSID is confusing a lot of devices and they're picking up the slower network. This is a bit more but brand new and hopefully less buggy.

I don't really need the mesh, my current Asus (tmo) ac68u is running everything fine, 3000 sq ft house and it's actually positioned in the corner of the basement, but the opposite corner is just my home office where I just need enough bandwidth for stupid zoom calls.

Fiber coming next spring or summer here finally and then we'll really be cranking.

Thinking maybe we return the orbi and just wait and see what happens in spring for wifi 6 routers.

Yeah I'm gonna cancel my order and keep the Asus. Everything I've found online supports the RT-AX86U being better. Sucks losing out on the Costco return policy but hopefully there won't be any issues and a painless warranty process with ASUS if it comes to that.
