I'm not the most tech knowledgeable but need to upgrade based on my comcast set up and internet speed we pay for. They need to send us a new dvr box but won't until we replace our several year old combo unit. So based on their recommendations i found a great deal on CM2000 modem. Would this be a good router to pair with it? I almost bought a mesh system but i think that would be overkill for a 2200 sq ft home.

Thanks for any input
I have a smaller home, and a small mesh system (1 router + 1 satellite) has worked really well for us. Couple reasons why it mattered for us:

1. Router wasn't centrally located in the home (it's nearly at one end of the house, in fact).
2. We have smart outdoor cameras and irrigation controllers, so we need the WiFi to reach more than just within the home. Distance + more walls led to poor connection when we had just a single router.

Not sure if either of those applies to you.

Yeah I'm gonna cancel my order and keep the Asus. Everything I've found online supports the RT-AX86U being better. Sucks losing out on the Costco return policy but hopefully there won't be any issues and a painless warranty process with ASUS if it comes to that.
this thing is a monster, its massive. and im getting 460mbps all around my house. before id get like 200mbps on my linksys mr9600.

I played all night w gf on her and my ps5. no lag, nothing anywhere.

I actually dont feel like driving 30 mins to costco today to get price adjustment, and if it was a price error instead of the 250 sale.

so I just ordered a new one, and when it arrives, whenever I go to Costco one day, I will return the new one I get in mail w my 299 receipt I paid last night. whatever

can I log onto my sisters account and have it shipped and billed to me or would costco fraud alert it and lock her out. My name is not on the account.

Love TP Link Smart Home Products, but I had this router for a week and returned it. Kept dropping connections.

This router supports onemesh with a possible firmware update. It also blows ass when using onemesh with other onemesh device such as the extender Costco sells. Creates IP conflicts for everything as it switches devices, even when you assign IPs to each device. Open the entire range of IPs available and it still manages to create a half dozen conflicts with 30 devices attached.

Using Archer C9 for 5 years now. And it still works great even for gaming. So, stop spreading misinformation.
Same, C9 for 5+ years, recently bought orbi 753s and returned, because it just does not beat C9 for MY use case. C9 has much more customization than 753s, too.

Yea I'm probably doing the same. Had the AX86U on a deal alert for a few months and finally got it. Asus did work out a bit cheaper still since I got in on the paypal $25 off and 2% cb as well. I did most of my research here on the two:

https://dongknows.com/tp-link-arc...00-review/

https://dongknows.com/asus-rt-ax8...er-review/

I know this TP-Link is triband but dong mentions things don't always work great if you use routers even with better specs incorrectly. Like a dual-band router setup with wired backhaul for mesh will work better than a tri-band. But tri-band is better for wireless backhaul setups.

Ok I'm sorry not a huge tech person. Am moving into an apartment and getting att fiber internet. Is it better to buy my own router/ modem or rent from ATT for 10$ a month?

Also is this a router and a modem ? Or do I need to purchase a separate modem ? Sorry again.

This router connects to your modem from ATT and takes over the wireless duties. At least that's how most will set it up. The box I got from ATT is horrid. drops signals, restarts the wifi all the time so that's why I've been using my own router. I've been using the old Tmobile Asus router but there are some corners that it just doesn't reach in my house and I'm hoping this TP-Link will resolve that issue. Another reason I'm replacing it is that the 2.4band on my Asus has been dropping more frequiently. I'm not sure if it might be the devices or the router itself but I wanted to upgrade 5ghz and acquire wifi 6 as we're getting more and more wifi 6 devices in the house.

I agree. I've been using c9 as well for years then after I put ddwrt on it. It was a great router, I ended up giving it to my brother after I upgraded.
