These are still great lights. Great way to get these bulbs at a lower cost- I usually sell a bridge and a bulb on Mercari or eBay and get at least $60 back and then I get 2 bulbs for about $20 🤷🏼 ♂️

A while back this set was on clearance at Costco for $70. It came with 3 color bulbs and a bridge.

Color quality, ecosystem, 3rd party support

Kasa bulbs are a good cheap bulb. They do not integrate with as much smart home stuff, or not as cleanly as the Hue, if that's something you're looking to do.

I got Kasa and they work fine. There may be connectivity issue, where my phone won't recognize that the lights are on and i can't adjust settings for a little (one minute max) but nothing major.

We just setup the merkury ones from Walmart, the app is shite but the Google home integration is solid af. You're not gonna beat $5.35 per bulb delivered.

Will these work with an older hue hub, or maybe the new hub with with an older model of bulbs?

If you already have a bridge and are buying this just for the bulbs, you can often buy three new Hue color bulbs without a bridge for $90 [bestbuy.com].

This is still a solid deal, but unless I'm missing something it appears that the warranty is only 30 days. If they are purchased new the warranty is 3 years.

I purchased a Hue Hub off eBay (different seller) two years ago. There are certain features Hue has that other systems don't offer: bulbs with candelabra base and fantastic light switches (battery operated) that require no hard wiring to control lights . I have an older bathroom with candelabra bulbs on the bathroom vanity but there was no switch by the door. Hue solved this problem ! If you need a light switch where none has been wired (living room, bedroom or bathroom, for example) , the Hue light switch is great and easily set up.

As switchers said, but I will add that the ecosystem. And UI of hue is the most reliable of all the smart bulbs. I have had feit, kasa, Meross and others and find those to drop connection from time to time, needing to be reset by a power cycle etc. Hue rarely if ever have this problem because of the design and Bridge. They talk to each other so you can get farther from your router then wifi bulbs if that matters for a large property. But, cost of Kasa is certanly lower. I know plenty who dabble with cheaper bulbs then buy Hue later because of the features. But everyone had different needs. Good luck.
