This is the Gen 5E, which is basically a crippled Gen 5. The Gen 5 is barely worth this price, and you couldn't pay me to pay 3 figures for a 5E (unless you paid me 3 figures).
For anyone who arrives here unsure of whether a smart watch is right for you, consider Fossil's e-ink hybrids. You still get notifications for calls and texts, can control music, track workouts and heart rate, but it has actual clock hands and you only charge the battery every couple of weeks.

Everyone is different, but for the short time I had a touchscreen smartwatch I didn't understand what life problem it was solving to justify the frequent charging. But I love my hybrid and am thinking of getting a second.
It depends on your needs. If you want a fitness tracker, buy a fitness tracker. No wear OS device is a great fitness tracker. I buy the newest Fossil wear OS watch when it comes out each year and they are perfect for my needs. I want a nice looking classy watch that I can get notifications on. The metal versions of these watches are nice looking pieces. I don't do silicone bands... Again, if you want a fitness tracker, buy a fitness tracker.

I work in IT and I'm responsible for things 24x7. Sometimes I like to do things not work related. So the top reason I love my watch is for notifications. Wherever I am, whatever I'm doing, I can keep my phone in my pocket and when I get a text message, email, or phone call, I can immediately tell if this is something worth my immediate attention, or if I can ignore it and continue my activity.

I don't text people back. I don't try to make phone calls on my watch, I don't write emails or long reviews like this from it. Those things would yield a terrible experience. I have an MFA app to generate codes that works ok. Sometimes I start my Nissan Maxima with the wear OS app. These are just bonus features.

I like that I can customize my watch face considerably unlike a hybrid. I love that it reminds me of calendar events.

The major negative is battery life. If you turn on all the things... Your battery will suffer and you'll be lucky to make it through the day.

I don't wear my watch to bed, so daily charging is not a hardship. 14 hours is enough for me. I can get 20 - 24 with my settings.

Sometimes (once a month) a process will freak out and cause low battery a few hours into my day. That kinda sucks.

So there is no right or wrong answer to "which is better" unless you ask "which is better for <something specific>.

Bought this exactly a year ago and now won't turn on. Fortunately, it came with a 2 year warranty, so now need to go through the motions, which I'm debating of just tossing it due to the horrible battery life it has. It does charge quick, but it never makes it a day and half the functions, like picking up the phone via the watch, don't work most of the time. I'd invest in something better.
