Wandering around the aisles, I cam across a display case of 16 and 18 inch chainsaw chains. Noticed the CLEARANCE PRICE for the combo bar and chain that was less than the chain alone. I have no idea if the quality is any good but for this price, it seems like a good deal.

I am asumming these are compatiable with other chainsaws as long as its 16 or 18 inch?
You just have to check the pitch, gauge, drive links, and bar mount of your saw. These Craftsmans are 3/8" pitch. But some saws require .325" pitch. The Craftsmans are .050" gauge. That's the thickness of the drive links that sit into the bar groove. A lot of saws can switch between . 050" and .058", as long as the both the bar and chain are the same gauge. The drive links are the number of drive links in the chain that sit into the bar. A 16" bar for my saw requires 60 drive links and the Craftsman 16" chain only has 56. So, not a match for me. The bar mount type ensures that the mount bolt holes, chain tensioner hole, and oiler hole line up. See this link: https://www.lawnmowerpros.com/cha...-chart.asp
It's pretty easy once you know what to look for. This is a good price for bar/chain combo. I'm actually in the process of trying to find extra bars and chains right now. This would be a steal if they fit. I'd buy a lot of them for spares. Good luck!
I got a couple of these for my echo 58v cordless saw, they fit fine even know they are not listed on the package as compatible. I realize my saw requires an .043" chain for the stock bar, so just removed it and used the craftsman bar and chain.
I've got an old McCulloch 3200 16" sitting in my shed that I recently replaced all the brittle fuel lines on and got running good. Its bar & chain are all rusty and I was able to sharpen it but still seems sketchy. I looked it up and its the same pitch/gauge as this chain! I am hoping I can upgrade to the 18" bar.
$10 & $11 for both bar & chain is an insane deal. I was pricing these earlier in the fall and couldn't justify paying $40 for a simple 16" replacement bar/chain for this old chainsaw. I think its build date is 1997 but it runs fantastic now so I might as well preserve it.
How can I know if it fits Makita XCU04?
(16 inch bar)
It looks like your Makita XCU04 comes stock with 3/8" pitch, .043" gauge, and 56 drive links. You should be able to use the Craftsman .050 gauge bar and chain as long as you use them together. The gauge of the chain is more dependent on the bar, and not the sprocket. Just keep in mind that you wouldn't want to mix the Craftsman bar or chain with your original ones. And if the other poster is correct in the mount type being A041, that's a match for your saw. It's the same type. You should be fine with this bar/chain combo.

I do not know 100% but am 9o% most bars are interchangable between brands you can even go up or down sizes.
