Serious answer: Are there other ways to play these games? Yes, dozens in fact. This is more about the experience of playing on a cabinet. If you don't care about that, then this isn't for you.

It really depends. I have a couple of consoles and also a couple of these arcade systems. Consoles are definitely more bang for your buck (and require a lot less space) while the arcade systems are more of an invitation for people to play a quick game.
