I know this deal on the free iPhone SE for new customers has been posted, but I don't think many people know about the free upgrade for existing customers with older 3G incompatible phones.

Cricket/AT&T networks are turning off 3G service in February 2022, making many phones incompatible. If you are receiving texts from Cricket saying your phone is incompatible, you are eligible for a free iPhone SE (or Moto G Stylus 5G) upgrade. This deal will work for all lines on your account that are receiving the Cricket message about incompatible phones.

When you upgrade a line through the website you will see the iPhone price of $249.99. Click to proceed to checkout, and before placing the order you will see "3G $249.99 Targeted Offer-Mfg/Dist Coupon - $249.99", making the phone free.

I was told by the Cricket store owner that this deal should be good until Jan 6th.

My mom's phone is showing as incompatible come February but she has not been getting texts from Cricket wondering if this would work for her? Also will this mess with her grandfathered plan? Last time she tried to upgrade direct with Cricket she was told it would change her plan.

It's not just 3G only phones. It's any device with Cricket service that isn't on their whitelist.
We just took advantage of this offer for my wife's Moto X4.

We're an android family, but my wife is really happy with the iPhone SE.

If your mom's phone and plan doesn't include data, this would change her plan. If it does, I don't see why they would force her to change her plan.

Are you going by the Cricket Whitelist? Or doing the IMEI check? I have a Pixel 3A XL which is not on Cricket Whitelist but IMEI passes. It is on ATT Whitelist so I feel this effort is a little botched, but not surprising.

Checked on the IMEI and no go. Seems like full info is lacking between Cricket and ATT, they should be the same.

It is not just 3G phones. Wifi calling should be supported as well. To my surprise, Samsung Galaxy S8 is not compatible with their 3G shutdown.

I currently have Cricket 5 lines and pay 125/month. We received the message for three of our phones. I wonder I could just order the phones for free, swap the SIM and still pay for the 125/month? When you check out, you will see this: Requires min. $30/mo. voice plan & $25 upgrade fee.
