I know this deal on the free iPhone SE for new customers has been posted, but I don't think many people know about the free upgrade for existing customers with older 3G incompatible phones.

Cricket/AT&T networks are turning off 3G service in February 2022, making many phones incompatible. If you are receiving texts from Cricket saying your phone is incompatible, you are eligible for a free iPhone SE (or Moto G Stylus 5G) upgrade. This deal will work for all lines on your account that are receiving the Cricket message about incompatible phones.

When you upgrade a line through the website you will see the iPhone price of $249.99. Click to proceed to checkout, and before placing the order you will see "3G $249.99 Targeted Offer-Mfg/Dist Coupon - $249.99", making the phone free.

I was told by the Cricket store owner that this deal should be good until Jan 6th.

Not sure how their 3G eligibility is determined. I am using a unlocked Samsung A71 (originally for T-Mo) and I am constantly getting spammed by the ineligibility text. I doubt the phone is incompatible on 4G. I am going to take a shot at the offer anyways if it's free even though I don't like iPhone.

going through it now with a phone that does not have Wi-Fi calling available on Cricket, which should qualify as per rangav. Does the discount show up before you enter your credit card number or after you enter your credit card number?

One reason I think may be coverage. When I go hiking in like Zion there are places I don't get perfect reception so I don't know if that's the reason, maybe ATT had better reception in rural areas.
One reason is Metro's c/s sucks big time. Porting out of Metro is very difficult with trying even get to speak to a rep to get the correct account number. Cricket's c/s is much better. Att coverage is also better. Add in the easy buying online with Cricket vs Metro too.

This is what people seem to forget, it's not just 3g, but for regular users it's volte certification. Iot devices are more 3g, but your average user most likely has a phone that is volte capable but not certified by the carrier.

I upgraded in October when I started receiving the messages for my Iphone 5S. Looks like the promotion does not apply to me.

Back in October the Iphone SE was full price $249.99 for existing customers and free for new customers. I picked some crappy refurb phone for $10 as I had 6 months of Kroger Cricket credit on my account and did not want to lose it. I planned on canceling the account and signing back up for the free phone after the credit was used. All this and they could have just given me the free phone in the first place.

It should show up after you choose the line. You can use the IMEI checker to see if that phone qualifies. My 3 lines that were eligible Samsung Galaxy S8, ZTE Axon 10 Pro & LG V20.
