The store price was not up to date. It was placed at 75% off section with Christmas stuff and other toys. The manager manually adjusted the price for us.

Because it's a holiday item that is only on clearance at a few stores nationally. Those are not 75% off. This was a manager override for the clearance price. Items like razors soaps and makeup that were Christmas specials seem to be 75% off. Other more expensive gifts are not reduced yet. Maybe soon.

Try to avoid 'department store' telescopes however cheap they are. Cheap refractor (lens) scopes will get you to the moon, but nothing more...and the tripod will be so flimsy and unstable...cell phone adapter?....good luck with that!

If you want to get into astronomy that'll keep you interested, look for a dobsonian (mirrors) tabletop or regular size scope. They don't cost $20 though....more like $150+. easy to use too.
