There is almost zero sound difference between the gen 1 and 2. My family did a blind test and we could not tell the difference on atmos content

Thanks for the info. I have Gen 1 and always thinking if I should upgrade to Gen 2 when deals like this pop up.

Did you check the Sonos app to make sure it was receiving Dolby Atmos? And was it Trueplay tuned? Thanks.

How can a "usual deal" not be a deal at all?!
This might be usual rate + deal at Costco, but it is better than usual rate + deal available at any other store/websites. Doesn't it save money for folks who is planning to buy SONOS beam 2:- it does if only they know about it. I myself didn't know and bought it from BestBuy first. Once I saw this deal at Costco, I posted the details here for others.

Agree with other post, first not all streaming apps stream Atmos, and not all content streams in Atmos. I use an Apple TV 4K box and watched Winter Soldier on Disney Plus that when the movie started it told me both Dolby Vision and Atmos was activated on the screen, and when Bucky sprayed gravel at the camera with a motorcycle, I heard it beside and behind me hitting the pavement from a sound bar mounted below my TV and no rear speakers. Does Atmos make a difference? If you have a good setup and the stream supports it, YES!

Gen 1 was $379.99 at my local warehouse when I visited a couple days ago. For me, the more easily maintainable and durable exterior of the Gen 2 would make it my choice for only $30 more after the included Apple GV even if there weren't a difference in sound.

yeah and that Costco price mistake years ago for $180 doesn't help I would go with the Arc at this price point

Get the Sonos Arc or the first gen Beam if you can get it new for discounted price. Speaker hardware is the same between gen 1 and gen 2. It's software and processor upgrade but to really benefit from Atmos, you need dedicated speakers pointing upwards.

eARC on gen2 is enough reason to get it for PS5/XSX. Gen 1 has ~300ms audio delay

This. The eArc is the major improvement. Now if you don't need eArc, then don't bother with gen 2.

But if you need the eArc, this is worthwhile.
