Seller is not Amazon it's Store4Memory. I try to avoid 3rd party sellers.

Very misleading comment.
Gen3 only works as an external drive to allow playing PS4 games on a PS5.
if you want to install in the PS5 internal expansion bay to play PS5 games you absolutely need Gen4.

Ding ding ding. SD doesn't care about the seller not being reliable, all they care about is the click-through revenue .

Gen 3 works fine with the PS5 and the difference is negligible imo at least for current games...
PlayStation site says the requirement for PS5 is gen 4x4 with a read speed of 5500mbs or more

Could have sworn ps5 don't care about write/read speeds, only that it's Gen 4.

Is this better than getting the 970 evo plus for $85? Refurbished from bestbuy. Havent receive it but concern about this

A LOT of reviews (overall and recent) stating DOA drives or drives that die unexpectedly after a short period of time. Also, I found one review back in late 2019 where Sabrent changed the controller/NAND flash config due to part shortages. Now there is no guarantee of the stated performance metrics and included Phison E12 controller/Toshiba TLC.

I'd stay away.

Dealing with that now for a 2TB purchased back in July 2021. Recently starting disappearing completely, but a shut down and restart would revive it. Now, mostly does not show at power-on and very difficult to get it to be seen. This is even with their cooling heatsink attached to it.

Have to see if they will warranty replace it since it was bought from Amazon via Store4Memory.

2.5" SSDs haven't dropped that much, and aren't much cheaper than gen 3 NVMEs, so I don't think so. Seems like not enough supply of anything.
