Gonna go against the grain here but my experience with this mug was terrible. The mug would only connect if I repaired it every single time I wanted to use it.I have an Android phone and from what I have read from reviews it plays nicely with Apple not so much with Android, which was my case. The battery life sucked. If I just left the phone on I would watch the battery drop 5-10% in five minutes time not doing anything. I tried putting half cup of lukewarm water in it and heating it up to 145 degrees . It couldn't do it. It stayed around 110 for over 30 minutes and the battery dropped over 50% during that time. Contacted customer support. They told me to pour something in that was 165 degrees and see if that works. Well yeah. It's gonna seem like it works because I am putting something in that is 20 degrees hotter. I did it. Still didn't work. The worst part is I sent 3 different emails back and they ignored every one. They don't have phone support either.. I probably would give another one a crack, but after they ignored me and I spent $100+ on a coffee mug, I'm done. Returned it. Sucks too because I really wanted this to work. Just my experience.

Isn't it cheaper to make another cup or use one of the cheaper heaters, $100 after tax price seems ridiculous to me.

Bought one for the wife for Christmas and just ordered this for myself. It's completely unnecessary and a frivolous bougie expense.

However, it works perfectly and is incredible.

Did have some issues updating the firmware (for a coffee mug..
I know) but got it to work eventually by hitting the power button on the mug when it hangs at 50% trying to reconnect.

🤷

I've participated in a lot of these Ember mug threads and the thread posts boil down to:
  • I get what the mug is about
  • I don't get what the mug is about
If you get what it's about you get it. If you don't get it, there's typically some ignorance about the problems this mug solves.

Typical problems with normal/insulated mugs:
  • Normal mugs don't keep coffee warm
  • Vacuum insulated mugs require manual temperature regulation before pouring liquid into the mug (or wait 6 hours for it to cool)
  • Vacuum insulated mugs are difficult to wash
These may not be problems to you. Just understand that some people are willing to fork over $100 to solve these problems, especially if they occur multiple times every day. I'd say it's more of a special tool that's good at a solving certain problems rather than a luxury.

With a normal paper cup or mug, I'd finish it in an hour (chug when it starts getting cold, hate cold coffee). With an Ember mug I usually take at least 2-3 hours to finish a cup. I sit in front of a computer all day so it's nice to have a hot cup of coffee to sip on at all times without having to make a new cup every hour (or having to microwave coffee). It makes me drink a lot less coffee while keeping moderately caffeinated.

these things are $150 on Amazon! even the regular Costco price is great.

as someone who really got into coffee during COVID being able to keep the coffee at a constant 62C is really good. too hot or cold and you can't taste the coffee

stainless steel insulated keeps it too hot too long
ceramic cools it down too quickly imo so this is great.

It was with the coffee makers at mine, but others have found it in the electronics section.

It's a game changer having a toddler. Other mug warmers get hot to the touch, this does not. It's a luxury item but so great to have. Much better than having to pour all the time or microwave over and over. Esp you dont want to drink 5 cups of coffee a day with non stop refills.
