In order to swap cards and avoid re downloading all your games:

1. POWER OFF the switch (not sleep mode, all the way off)
2. Remove SD card, pop in new one
3. Boot system and format SD card
4. Power off again and remove
5. USING A PC, copy all the files from the old SD card to the new one
6. Put new SD into Switch and power on

For a single user, it's an alright deal if you need the SD card. $20 is the standard price for an individual online membership so the card would cost $15. Family plan is meant for sharing so you could add on a few folks to take advantage of your online membership and even charge them a few bucks like another SDer suggested.

This doesn't include the expansion pack upgrade which is a separate cost. The upgrade gives you access to all game expansion packs for free in addition to official Sega and N64 emulators.
