In order to swap cards and avoid re downloading all your games:

1. POWER OFF the switch (not sleep mode, all the way off)
2. Remove SD card, pop in new one
3. Boot system and format SD card
4. Power off again and remove
5. USING A PC, copy all the files from the old SD card to the new one
6. Put new SD into Switch and power on

For a single user, it's an alright deal if you need the SD card. $20 is the standard price for an individual online membership so the card would cost $15. Family plan is meant for sharing so you could add on a few folks to take advantage of your online membership and even charge them a few bucks like another SDer suggested.

This doesn't include the expansion pack upgrade which is a separate cost. The upgrade gives you access to all game expansion packs for free in addition to official Sega and N64 emulators.

I do this all the time with Christmas related memberships! They often go down right after. Right now, set an alarm on your calendar to stop or delay the renewal and explain to yourself why. Then just live a week or two without membership and you'll be on a better timeline going forward.

My daughter just got her 12 month sub and I snagged a 256gb SD off Amazon just before Christmas for $27 and yes, it's an official SanDisk card, but for those who got a Switch at Christmas this is an excellent deal.

This exact card has been on sale for $20. It is just a reskinned 128gb microSD and those go for $10-20. Best Buy is confusing 'MSRP' for 'Value'. Please never pay $60+ for this card.

That said, still a good deal - something free with a subscription that doesn't go on sale and the subscription is worth it. Full family gets to play classic games and Tetris 99 (amongst other things). I am in for 1.
