I like this tablet. The battery lasts a really long time and the screen is good. Yes, the audio is crappy. Not a deal breaker for me. I have fire hd 8 tablet from last year and this is better because of no bloat and not having to hack it.

I got 1 for my 5 year old son for christmas and he loves it. WHle the sound is a little low We got him those kids volume control headphones and we both get what we want. Now I dont have to listen to him watch his shows.

More technical stuff.
Speed wise its great for what it is.( Not a samsung s7 tablet or anything.)
But handles Minecraft great.( The bad some apps in the playstore do not show up on chrome devices.(Minecraft)
I had to put tablet into developer mode to install it.
Only technical people should attempt.
While powered off Hold down power button, volume up and volume down all at the same time.
Release after ~5 seconds, and you'll see the white power button light turn on by the usbc port.
You'll see a black screen. Press both volume buttons at the same time once. Then, press the volume up button (has a + sign) around 10 times. Press the power button once. Wait 30 seconds. A screen should show. You're in dev mode.

The bad once your in developer mode every time you completely power off the tablet and power it back on the developer startup shows up.
I just dont hit any buttons and after 20 seconds it boots right in.

Once your in developer mode and chose to go back to regular it wipes the tablet.( At least it did on mine)
In developer mode it lets you install apk's which are full android game packages. I use my tablets like that so I can customize everything.

But for 100 bucks its great. I got the additional case for them since it was for my kids and my kids love them.
You could have installed the Linux version of Minecraft.

True But i like sideloading apk's. And this allows my phone to work with his tablet so we can play together.

Has anyone mounted these into their cars so the kids can stream Disney+ off a hot spot? Looks like an affordable way over an iPad?
I'm always afraid of mounting anything in the car, worried that in the event of an accident it will become a projectile heading straight to the face of whoever is seating on the mounted screen.

Keep in mind that I've seen Gmail take upwards of a gig of ram sometimes. It's usually around a 400 - 500k JUST for gmail. So keep your expectations realistic.

can you just use this as an Android tablet ? Download Android phone apps etc
is the touch screen decent ?

it seems to be a 2 year old design and I do not remember when they started letting you download Android apps off Play store

Thanks

Yes you can download apps from the Play Store. Is a tablet, the only difference is the OS is not Android is Google Chrome OS but you can use Android apps.

Will this work with Google Home?
My wife bought me a stand to put a tablet on so I can sit in the hot tub and stream Xfinity. The lights above the hot tub are setup through Google home so it'd be nice to be able to tell it to turn the lights on and off.

She bought me a Lenovo M10 originally but streaming was very choppy.

Also looking at Samsung A7 and Lenovo P11. Currently using an old Amazon Fire HD.

That would be interesting to me as well so I did some digging and.... couldn't figure out the answer. It's a 64-bit "8-core" A73/A53 ARMv8, so it MIGHT work although Zwift says the "ARMv8a" architecture is needed. Newer Mediateks use ARMv8.2. Also the GPU is weak so you'd have to turn the settings way down. You'd probably have a better experience on an Apple TV or a Samsung Tab S4, S5 or S6. When people say it's slow for games, that means it will be slow for Zwift as well.

If you can swing it I recommend plugging a TV into an inexpensive laptop instead - it will look a lot better and it's a lot more immersive, even on the old 42" 1080p TV I have mounted on the wall in front of my bike with a cheap speakerbar attached beneath it. I also don't get neck cramps from looking down all the time.

I got this the last time for 79 bucks. Does anyone know how we can see the Gmail password? I tried the Chrome password thing. Didn't work.

If you are using the fire hd10 (2019) model, the only difference is your tablet has 2GB of RAM... it has the identical CPU/GPU. If you run one app at a time and do the XDA Amazon Tool Box thing... you will not see much of a performance improvement.

You said the steaming is very choppy.... your internet could be a factor. While the 10e, tab A7, p11 and Fire HD10 are all similar in speed... they are about 30 - 40% faster then the M10. But I would think you can still stream with no issues with the M10???

The good about the 10e is you can stream from Chrome (might be better then having the app).

And, no issues with using google home, just download the app.
Use Google Home through your Chromebook
While your run-of-the-mill desktop doesn't feature onboard support for the Google Home app, those using a Chromebook can download and use the application as they would on a regular mobile device — and it's all possible via the Google Play Store.

Hi, it was a 2016/2017 Fired HD 8, she was upgrading the size otherwise its worked perfectly for the Xfinity Stream app.

I read everyone has the issue with the M10 and Xfinity stream and it might have to do with Widevine?

The M10 is not widevine level 1 certified.

While google Chromebook are NOT widevine Level 1 certified... google did make sure any streaming through Chrome will be widevine level 1 certified but not through any apps.

I think you would totally appreciate the Lenovo 10e. The downfall is
1. small hard drive 18 GB of free space after updates and no micro SD slot... this really does not effect everyone but it may be an issue in the future if you donwload a lot of apps.

AND realize that the tablet does 400nits, while that is good, other tablets are brighter such as the Fire HD10 that does 440nits and Samsung's Tab A7 has 413 nits and the P11 has 400 nits.

If you do get this, just remember that the first thing to do is update the OS. You need to YouTube a video that shows you how, it is not done through settings but done through Chrome.

Amazon's is 8-core if that matters to you, but less RAM. Much better overall anyway.
