Doesn't mention what kind of walnuts these are. Anyone know? I prefer black walnuts that are common in eastern USA.

And why is it so difficult to get walnut halves - rather than pieces thrown in together

Great walnuts! I often buy them from Walmart for $12-13 online. Sometimes I find BJs or other store brand walnuts somewhat bitter but these are consistently not bitter. They are not salted but just plain walnuts.

Thanks to everyone for your replies. Discombobulated mentioned they are grown in Northern California- which means they are most likely English walnuts. Midwest momma also mentions this.
