Would love to get an existing customer code. Totally good for a trade of appropriate value in a vehicle of your choice (wink, wink).

Kickback does not transfer over, from what reps have told me already. That is one promotion that doesn't transfer. They were confident in saying that. The Free lines, some people on this thread have gotten mixed answers, while I gave a reply earlier in the thread on what the reps I spoke with (3 separate ones) explained. To my understanding, Free lines that would transfer over and remain free have to have been on the account for at least 1 calendar year. In addition, the free line cannot be tied to the plan that the account is currently on. They explained that the reason my free lines would easily transfer over is because I added them separate and apart from the plan that I'm currently on (One with One+ promotion).

Currently, I pay 113-123 per month, depending on kickbacks (One Plan w/ Plus Promotion Upgrade, includes Family version of Netflix and Kickbacks for 4 lines). 4 are paid lines 2 are free lines.

In order for me to switch to the Magenta Max w/ Insider 20% discount, as well as keep the monthly the same, I'd have to relinquish 2 paid lines. For 2 paid and 2 Free lines, on this plan, my monthly bill would be $112.

What's strange to me is that there have been a few people that reported ridiculously low plans with multiple lines (and many free) that are getting per month bills that are sub 100. I still have yet to see anybody explain or break down how that's possible at all.

Your current group One+ promotion is a really great deal. If you already have a code, I'd just call t-mobile and have them break down what the new bill would be with you, prior to switching. That'll give you an idea if it's worth it. If not, but you have a code to use, I'm still in need of one and would greatly appreciate if I could use it, in the event you are not.
From what I gather, if you can get more than 9 lines onto a Magenta plan, there's some kind of glitch with the calculation where it gives you more money off making it a negative cost line. For example, you get $40 off for the free line #10 but it costs you $30 so you're paying $10 less than when you had 9 lines.

I'm not exactly sure about the specifics, but I think that's what I heard.

I haven't heard any word of a new free line yet so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for another one.

Thanks for your input. The One plan had the 20% when it was first offered i believe. It was automatically applied when they signed up for the account, quite some time ago. My Magenta 20% off was from 2-3 years ago when they had a sign up new account with 20% insider discount promotion. I don't have any code for you. Sorry Frown

Not sure I can answer all your questions but a couple of things I will point out - yes, you can always switch back to Magenta from Max but you will need to keep the Max plan for as long as needed for the device promotions. If you switch back before the end of the EIP then you will owe the remaining balance on the devices that you switched plans to get.

As for those on the One plan, I personally am not a fan of changing plans just to get a new device. Especially with the plan you described - One Plus Promo and kickback on all lines - you won't come close to that with Max and kickback does not transfer. Once you give up that plan and those perks you won't get them back.
An option for those who want a new device is to add the $15 One Plus Plan to those individual lines (can be done in the app). That is considered a premium plan and will qualify those lines for the top tier of device promotions. As with Max, you will need to keep that option in place until the device credits run out but after that you can remove the Plus Plan from the line and still maintain the other grandfathered perks you have now.
Bottom line: I would not give up the existing One plan just for a new device. There are other ways to upgrade your phone, Best Buy being an excellent recent option.
Thanks for the input. The rep told me i just had to have premium plan when first get the device and then i can change however i want. I knew it sounded too good to be true.

I'll let the people on the One plan know. Does the 20% apply to the $15 extra for One Plus?

Oh, I see. I misunderstood what you were saying. I thought you were asking for advisement on switching to get the 20%. If it was added to the account prior, seems like it really is a choice between the following:

Magenta Max
- Additional Upgrade savings
- 1 year free Apple TV
- Upgraded in flight wifi to unlimited
- Additional 4G Hotspot data per line (30GB more than One Plus)

One Plus
- Kickbacks

As far as price is concerned, if you already had the 20% off, my understanding is that's lifetime, correct? I don't see why a T-mobile rep would have issues verifying the difference in costs between the two and if it would cost you more or less.

Thank you for confirming! Did you do it a store, over the phone, or some other way?
I did it at store- they needed me to activate another line, to which I was fine with. Calculations after is that I got that line for free. If you're going to do same, don't forget to get whatever free device they can give you on that newly added line.
I don't know how ppl got code without adding a line, if they did then I did something wrong. FYI

I have a question for those who got that 9 digit code and applied to account successfully-
1. Did you get it from an in-store employee?
2. Did you have to add a new line to account to do so?
