Don't expect the cutting tools in this to actually cut wire...read the 1 star reviews.

I have a much older set of CE tools that was gifted to me and this set looks way different. Not in a good way either. Handles look like a simple plasti-dip and the metal doesn't look nearly as durable or thick. This may be ok for a homeowner who wants to tinker but not for a tradesman.

Let's just say I rather use my scissors than the wire cutter to cut my wires. I will stay far away from this because it's junk.

Yes to that. I got this set 5 years ago, and now it looks different. The set I got was good enough for small electrical projects on my house. Outside of electrical work, I find myself reaching for the needle nose pliers the most. Sometimes I use the cutters for zip ties.

I got this set to work on my basement finishing. It works fine. I have no problem cutting 12 gauge with the stripper or the cutter

That's closer to the set, the handles look like the ones I have. The linemen pliers are much better in that set and so are the diagonal cutters. I use most of the stuff as my "lend out" but I love the linemens.

I have owned this tool set ( very similar but same brand ) for over five years now paid under $20 and it works fine for an average homeowner and yes it cuts wire and strips wire.

This isn't for your main set of strippers and pliers . It's a back up set to use in poor conditions. Or if you work outside doing low voltage wiring which is hard on tools just get something that that. The strippers alone run about $12 and the multi purpose cutters while not real lineman pliers get the job done. Considering a pair of lineman pliers can cost $20 to $30 alone I consider this a good deal if you have a need for it. The screw drivers are pretty darn good too.

To be clear, if I buy this set, does that mean I'm a licensed electrician?

You have to watch 12 minutes of YouTube instruction first. But yes! I just wired a new room under our stairs. Drilled holes and everything.

Same here. My kit from a few years ago had the same pouch with similar but better built tools. Pretty sure it was cheaper than $20 also. Might be better to get the tools individually as the pouch sucks

Can't speak to other tools but the wire stripper tool is garbage. I've returned 3 of them for same problems. the jaws bind, cutting surface not hard or sharp enough.
Get the greenlee version, looks almost identical and has worked great for several years of occasional use. Just whipped it out last night and makes hundreds of cuts.
