FYI You can get this for about $100 less if you can verify with Id.me directly from GE. I paid around $450

Seems to be only an added military discount that brings it down that much

ID.me discount showing only 10% for me and the price on the GE store is $620 for this unit and $579 for the bottom tank unit. What am I missing?

How long does the ice last in these on the counter top? Does it just melt and go back in the reservoir to be made into ice again?
You nailed it. It automatically tops off the ice level as melt gets recycled and the level lowers. Or you could remove ice to store in freezer and turn it off. HTH

I went with the 26lb Frigidaire that Costco had for $89.00 to supplement my refrigerator. Between 5 people they go through ice like its going out of style. It may not make "fancy ice", but its good enough to keep our drinks cool.

Does anybody knows if this is available in the warehouse? Usually is cheaper than the web

Not yet, it looks to be brand new to Costco online. If it does make it to the warehouse it may be 1-2 weeks.

I was researching this yesterday. I don't believe Costco Concierge covers it. The fine print lists what is considered a major appliance and ice markers are not listed. Also, the Allstate warranty is unclear if they will cover it either too. But the Citibank visa will probably cover it, though.

Also, I couldn't find the 2.0 on Amazon, only the 1.0. The reviews for the 1.0 are mixed. Supposedly they fixed the issues in the 2.0.

All that to say, it is a really good price since it includes the water tank.
Yes, I will call costco today to confirm the Allstate coverage. It is listed under the appliances section on costco, so maybe just maybe it qualifies Smilie. Worst case it becomes 2+2 years of total coverage? Concierge + Citi?

Do you know what the issues were in the 1.0? We have had a gen 1 for several years (got in on their kickstart type campaign) and it has been holding strong. It has started to make a little more noise than it did when we got it but it still makes the ice like it should.
Most of the complaints on Amazon seem to be from recent orders on the machine not working or being loud/making random noises. It wasn't enough to cause alarms for the machine itself because I suspect there was either a bad batch or the typically issue with Amazon where a third party seller sells counterfeits. IMO purchasing it from Costco is the way to alleviate those concerns.

We have one of these at the office(already have had a replacement and we've only had it for a year) I've wanted one at home but the price is scary. Getting it from Costco sort of makes this hard to pass up.

Cool! Let us know what they say about the warranties. I'm thinking it's 1yr manufacturer warranty + Citi.

It's also Costco so I'm not too concerned about the warranties. If something crazy does happen you can probably return it years later.

I did purchased it Wed. and it should be here on Tuesday. Smilie

People have been complaining about 1.0 caveats for years. I've been stalking this thing but never pulled the trigger. I find it odd GE continues to make the 1.0 and Amzn continues to sell

unfortunately wife thought it crazy I would spend this much on standalone ice maker so it's not worth aggravation of listening to her. Also don't wish to descale semi regularly (or at least tell myself). I'll continue to own it vicariously. laugh out loud

Bought the frigidaire ice maker from costco a few months ago. It's not the good crunchy ice and we couldn't get rid of the plastic taste, even after cleaning and a month of use. We returned it. Got this 2.0 a month ago through perks at work and ID.me for $360 without the side tank. I think the best price now on there is around $416. Works great so far and less upkeep without the side tank. Main tank still holds more than a quart anyway. Good ice is good. Based on reviews, I expect it to last just a couple years but that was built into the purchasing decision. Comes with one year warranty which I extended to two years using a premium credit card.

At these prices, wouldn't it make more sense to just get a larger commercial ice maker? The 100lb ones go for around $500 at home depot.
