Stay away from HP. You can't PROPERLY see the letters on the keypad as they blend into the silver keypad. Also, highly reflective screen. Other than that, perfectly fine.

Pavilion series doesn't have Thunderbold and little bit worst build quality than envy

Just saw this on the Costco site. Very tempting. Other than only a 512GB SSD and no SD slot it has basically every feature I'm looking for in a new laptop, and both of these drawbacks can be fairly easily overcome. Well, I'm also not crazy about the bright silver finish. Matt grey or blue would have been preferable, but that's nit-picking. It's a laptop, not fashion. Does anyone here have any experience with this laptop or one very much like it?

...Ok there's one other pretty serious drawback I just came across in this review of a very similar model:

Battery Life

Battery capacity is small and runtimes are subsequently short at just 4.5 hours of real-world WLAN use. In comparison, the costlier Envy or Spectre laptops can last for over two times longer when under similar conditions.
They both have a 42Wh battery, so this one's performance should be comparable. Under 5 hours battery life is simply unacceptable in a subnotebook these days. Hell, my nearly 12 year old laptop still gets nearly that much battery life, so long as I'm not stressing it. Hard pass. I'd rather sacrifice resolution than battery life.

So no HP, and Lenovo has hinge issues. What do you recommend? Asus? LG?

A MacBook Air M1 blows them all away if you don't need dedicated graphics.

You can find them for around $800 usually.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 hilarious. Other than graphic design... There's a reason Mac's only have 12% market share. Not even on the same planet.

Turn off your backlit keyboard... You can see fine.

I have Asus, Dell, and hp... Dell is the worst consecutively. HP is amazing. Asus comes in close.

Depends on what. Levovo Thinkpad is gold standard for business reliability. Asus is good and don't rule out Acer Aspire which has decent laptops with non glare screens.

How is the Spectre holding up. It is one heck of a sexy laptop. Aside from the keyboard issue if any, would you recommend the Spectre? Did you experience any overheating issues?

Honestly I rarely used it. this is pretty old (4-5 years), I had to fly to China/Korea for a 10-day work trip, so just picked it up. Since returning, I only took it out to watch movies. So I can't comment on the hinge issue that everyone brings up. It definitely does get warm, but it's a metal body - so i'd guess it's by design?

The backlit does bother me though -- I just turned it off lol
