advice only applies if the end user has existing gen4 or plan to build a system with gen4 m.2. otherwise for most ppl out there, gen3 is plenty fast for most task especially based on the $/GB.

my point was "waiting for gen4" as a blanket advice doesn't make sense for most users. even for gamers, SATA SSD is plenty fast for storage/loading games. NVMe drives win for ridiculous read/write speeds (for tasks that demand it) and reducing clutter in desktop PC builds but tend to cost more compared to SATA SSD or even older HDD drives

Bought this for $195 from Amazon just before BF, think the all time low was $190. So not slick but good price if you can't wait.

Great deal as I needed to upgrade my Lenovo T14 memory. This showed up in only one day at my home. Grab it while you can as the shortage is unfortunately high for just the 1 TB alone.

The SK hynix Gold P31 is one of the fastest gen 3 drives ever made. Even beats Samsung 970 evo plus

People are thumbing up cause it's a standout product with probably the lowest energy use and heat output, and one of the fastest gen 3. $190-195 would be slick.

I would wait for their Gen4. Also, they're buying Intel's flash business.
New system for Gen4 is costing a very hefty premium. My 9900k and Gigabyte z390 master MB cost $500 together. A Gigabyte z690 master cost $500 and 12900k $650 so $1150.

No thanks.

Still waiting to replace my 1TB NVMe SSD I bought four years ago for $69. Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron stop colluding to milk the consumer at 1-2TB kkthx. We are ready to be cheated at 8-128TB.

Digitimes: Samsung new NAND flash capacity coming online in 2H21 may worsen price falls.

Everyone has been brainwashed to eat these high price because xyz reasons. It's easier and cheaper to print ssd NAND memory than make a hard drive yet you don't see those staying stationary at 1-2TB for the past 3 years.

I'm not brainwashed I just needed some new storage.

There's not much competition in multi billion dollar fabs. It's not like starting up a new internet company in your basement.

Yeah over $200 for 2TB PCIe 3.0 is not frontpage worthy that's PCIe 4.0 territory. Sabrent 2TB PCIe 3.0 TLC was just $169.99

If you're just 100% about capacity I guess. This deal is pretty good for this specific high end drive.

I've noticed the pricing for this item fluctuates from time to time when certain deals come along.
