I bought one of these last year and it's been solid. It's waterproof until you stand in pouring rain for 2+ hours and then the sleeves soak through. It's really warm and windproof and the hood sheds water well.
The pockets are very nice and have a soft lining and the shell is sturdy.
I bought one of these instead of spending double on a Carhartt jacket thinking that I could just return to Home Depot if it didn't feel decent.

The only thing to consider is that they aren't sizes like Carhartt. Don't size down. I wear a medium Carhartt but a medium in this jacket doesn't have as much room.

There are 2 different jackets. The reviews for the Vail say that it is a bit oversized, so it's helpful for others to know before buying that one.

Many people choose not to make brand loyalty or patriotic statements with their clothing. This isn't really hard to understand.

Edit: and according to CATProductAdvisor in the Q/A, this is manufactured in China. So, yeah...

Not water proof means after a year or two the water resistant material loses its coating and it'll get wet quicker and quicker. Nice for walking the trash out. Sucks if you want a nice insulated rain coat

Is this more of a light weight jacket or for very cold weather? I live in phoenix az and need a new jacket but doesn't need to be a very heavy jacket

I'll be honest… was at Home Depot two days ago… heard a customer yelling in the background "This is bs!" I was returning something that was brand new (Arrived via shipping that same day) but equally picking up an order… Home Depot seems to be getting stricter about returns. It took 30 minutes just to return something and an hour to pick up my order. All around the customer service department are notices stating that their return policy has changed and you need a receipt now (Instead of just scanning your Home Depot card.

Got my Vail in dark shadow, Large; as reviews say, fits like a size up (XL in this case), and sleeves are disproportionately long, that being said I ordered with those in mind and it fits great albeit with slightly long sleeves and build quality is that of a $100-200 jacket. Quite impressed, thanks OP, nice one.
