If you're on Ring Protect (home alarm Plus), you should know that as of the end of this month (01/31/22), the previous aka Gen 1 plan for Ring Protect Plus at $100/y will be replaced with the "new" Ring Protect Pro @ $20/m. Subscribers who joined before 1/31/22 of the current $10/m or $100/y rate will be eligible for the same pricing only until 2025 if they have been "grandfathered," into the Gen1 plaln . Please ensue that you chat/call with Ring CS to validate info provided for yourself first but, to my understanding. Ring is swapping plans.....Just a heads up in case it's of use to anyone.

PS: Please feel free to validate Ring (gen1) plan cost vs. Pro moving forward.... Because few people may already be on the $100 Ring and (from my understanding, "grandfathered" aka "Gen1" plan are valid as is until 2025 @ $100/y - thereafter Ring Pro @ $20/m or $200/y. You can still get a Ring protect plan for $100 (tax-free) today based on recent Ring thread listed, unless you intend to explore your Ring protect plan after 01/02/22 at $20/m aka $200/y instead......: https://slickdeals.net/f/15522439-get-the-ring-protect-basic-subscription-annual-plan-without-paying-sales-tax-30?src=SiteSearchV2Algo1

I just chatted and they confirmed I was grandfathered at $100/yr just like the email they sent said. Not sure what this is about.

Typo in the subject/title, the end date for Gen1 plan subscription should read 01/31/22 not 2021 and thereafter $200/y instead of " Re: PSA: Ring Protect $10/m until 2025 aka (Gen1) subscription ends in 01/31/22--$20/m instead thereafter.... $100"

Exactly what i found out so wanted to share for those already in aka "Gen 1" "grandfathered" @ $100 but "only" until 2025 vs. recent Ring buyer thinking about converting next to Ring protect knowing that 01/31/22 the "same" service from Ring would be at a higher price moving forward..

They sent emails to affected people with plans last September explaining all this.

So if we are paying $100/yr already do we need to call in to lock the price until 2025?

I just got my Ring system on Prime Day.

I think you can only renew one year at a time. At least in the app, it doesn't have an option to renew for multiple years. Correct me if I'm wrong

I just dug up my email from Ring to make sure... I am on $10/mo, and from what I read I will continue to only pay $10/mo until Jan 2025 without having to do anything. Also, I have a ring alarm still in the box I need to add to my setup(one of these days), looks like that will work OK as well without a price increase until Jan 2025 as well. The fine print on the email:

Quote :
1 You'll continue to have access to Ring Protect Plus (1st Gen) until your next subscription renewal after January 1, 2025, at that time, any Protect Plus (1st Gen) plans you have will be automatically migrated to the Ring Protect Pro Plan.

Ring reserves the right to change this offer, our subscription plans, or pricing for our services or any components, at any time, effective as of the beginning of your next billing period.

If you don't currently have a Ring Alarm, you can still purchase one and add it to your account to get Professional Monitoring with your current Protect Plus plan. This applies until January 1, 2025.

I've been on their 1 device basic plan for 3 years now (Peephole cam and various Gen1 devices in my apartment). Upgrading to the $100 plus plan only makes sense if you're like me and adding more video devices or nex-gen before 2025 (moving into a house this year) to be grandfathered in. Either way, by 2025 or sooner, I'm sure they'll be other (or existing) companies coming into the fold with better products and I'll ditch Ring for them.

Is this different than ring protect basic? Right now I pay only 30 dollars a year and that covers just my doorbell. Does this affect me at all?

They could do all of the existing users a solid and not raise the price in 2025.

I am planning on adding floodlight cams. I have a regular gen 2 ring and an alarm that I bought last January (which I now regret not activating). I sure hope that there are options on the near future. Ring is now like how simplisafe was.
