What's the concern? I got the 3/8" recently and it's busted all the lug nuts I tried it on. It's been reviewed in YT tests and breaks nuts all the way up to 450ft-lbs. There are no fasteners on typical cars requiring anywhere near that much torque. Lots of serious DIYers and actual pros swear by it for day to day work.

If you don't do much auto work then an impact wrench is probably unnecessary for you. Although if you rotate your tires regularly on several cars it beats using lug wrenches, and might be nice to throw in the trunk for a flat tire change. And each size has identical power output. Which one you get is mostly a matter of what impact socket set you have or get and how you intend to use it. I got the 3/8" as 3/8" sockets are a bit smaller than 1/2" ones and fit into tighter spaces.

Only one is an impact driver. The other is an impact wrench, with a much higher torque rating for tougher fasteners such as are found on cars. If you only get one power tool for auto work, it should probably be an impact wrench, and many swear by the 3/8" M12 for being both powerful and versatile. It'll handle 80-90% of auto fasteners, and possibly even all of them on smaller cars. Drills and drivers are more for home, construction and wood work. So this is a nice all-around set. Lots of serious auto DIYers like to also get a power ratchet, but in addition to and not instead of an impact wrench.

The impact wrench itself is normally $179 so you're basically getting the drill, driver, batteries, charger & case for $100, which is a deal. I already have the wrench, 3 & 6Ah batteries, charger & case from a different deal and this isn't hackable, so I have to pass. Eventually they'll hopefully run their hackable deal on the drill and driver for around $100 after the hack. Also on some of their other M12 tools. I can wait but perhaps this indicates that another round of deals is coming. Or new tools are coming out soon?

Seems like a very good deal. Especially if you aren't already in the Milwaukee M12 ecosystem. Thumbs up.

I need some advice fellow SD'ers. I bought the 3/8" stubby with 2.0 and 4.0 batteries when the last $190 came around last month. With this current deal, I'd be paying $90 more to get an M12 Fuel drill and impact driver in addition to the impact wrench. Seems like a good value, but I already have a Kobalt 24V drill and impact driver that are still brand new, unused after purchasing them 2 years ago. I definitely don't need two drills and two impact drivers, but what would you do in my situation - stick with the Kobalt 24V or go with these M12 Fuels? I just don't think the Kobalts have high resale values considering they're cheap to begin with.
I would keep both sets, but you do you need 2 stubbies?
The Kobalts are as you said - 2 years old now. I doubt they will have much resale value.
But, they have tremendous value as "loaner" tools for when someone says - hey man, can I borrow those?
I would not loan out my $$ Milwaukee tools, but I also don't want to "be that guy" that will not help when he could.
Also, having 2 or more drills and drivers is handy when working on projects that require using multiple drill bits and sockets and bits.
If you ever build a deck, or anything with 4bys and 2 by sixes, you will appreciate having the multiples of tools, lol.

Since you already have the stubby, I'd hold out for a different deal on just what you need. Or, return the previous stubby deal and get this one instead?

This drill is awful: it has a digital clutch, which might as well be no clutch.

I have 1/2" standard deep, 1/2" metric deep, 1/2" metric shallow, and 3/8" standard deep impact sockets. So, certainly have more 1/2 than 3/8; however, you made a good point. I already have a 1/2" high-torque pneumatic impact wrench. Looking for an electric one to have on hand as well so I don't always have to rely on my air tools. I am a guy with a lot of tools, and I am on Slickdeals daily. Odds are I will own both the 3/8 and the 1/2 one day. laugh out loud
If you already have a high torque 1/2" air impact and 3/8" impacts then I'd go with the 3/8" and maybe get a shallow impact set for maximal clearance.

I am a DIY auto mechanic with no power tools. I keep eyeing these deals and am tempted but it seems a cordless ratchet would be more useful than 2 impact drivers. Am I missing something from folks that have used these?
If you don't already have an impact driver and drill, then maybe its for you. And yes an impact ratchet is much more relevant to your needs and is a God send working on cars.

Don't overhype this; the kit is pro rated around $150 and the impact wrench even though give same torque as 1/2" it goes on sale so often that this is more valid to those who want a new starter platform
For those who can wait and are willing to hack deals you can get everything in this combo and then some for not much more. Basically, the impact wrench, 3 & 6Ah batteries, charger & case that recently ran for $189/$199, and the drill, driver, 2 & 4Ah batteries, charger & case for just under $100 with the hack. You pay $10~$20 more and get everything in this kit plus extra 3 & 6Ah batteries and another charger and case. But if you need some or all of what's in this now, it's not a bad deal.

It all depends on how powerful the 24V Kobalts are. If they are more powerful than the M12, then don't buy this set. If the M12 is more powerful, buy this set, return the $190 stubby set, sell the Kobalts to cover your $90 extra paid.

They mentioned cordless ratchet, not an impact ratchet. Not the same thing. The former generally don't break >30ft-lb fasteners.

The impact wrench itself only is $120 or so; when it comes with 2 batteries and a charger, the impact wrench SET is $179.

So this deal is not so good, as you lose one charger and two batteries for $279. Keep waiting!

Um, no.

Wrench alone is $179:

In kit with 2 & 4Ah batteries, charger & case is $299:

Sure, they go on sale occasionally and can be found slightly cheaper elsewhere at the regular prices, but neither has been this cheap in recent memory even on sale. What you might be referring to is what I was referring to above, when the wrench + 3/6Ah batteries, charger & case was on sale for $189 and $199. But that's not regular price.

This deal is pretty good if you need the homeowner/light construction tools AND a tire change/medium torque compact impact. If you only need one or the other, you can certainly make a good deal "now" but a hackable deal or just outright sale you can probably get any of these items for around what your final price would be breaking it and messing around selling the parts you don't need online. And as others have said, definitely not hackable. Just my opinion so it's worth what you paid for it.
It seems like HD is cracking down on the "hacking" going on by bundling items together and not allowing people to buy things piecemeal anymore. Who knows though - maybe there will be more hacks in the future. It just doesn't seem as common these days. Perhaps others who have been "hacking" for a longer time can add some insight

But your comment made it sound like these prices are available NOW. Plus $129 is not $120. Minor point but it's important to be accurate. For those willing and able to wait, sure, there are better deals to be had, as I wrote. But for those who need them now and can't wait, this is still a decent just not super great deal. Something having been on sale for $50 less 2 months ago isn't going to help anyone right now.

As everyone else has mentioned. This is a very good deal. I would jump on this again if I didn't already have a everything listed here.

When you get any tools from the factory, ALWAYS ALWAYS test it out on something to make sure it works.

I had the Milwaukee 1/4" screwdriver that came with the 3/8" ratchet (non fuel) set and it gave me problems when it was left idle after use.

You would use it (tested it out with all batteries so it wasn't the battery) leave it there while you fiddle with something else and go back to use it again and it isn't working. Pop off the battery and reinsert it and worked again... until you left it alone for a bit and same thing.

Online eservice was very easy to use and got another tool shipped back to me within a week.

The m12 wrench is punching above its weight class for it being a 12v.

The impact driver is very useful for small applications. Never had any real issues with performance, besides it being loud. The hydraulic surge version is quieter but loses power for that quietness.

Hammer drill... meh... just a hammer drill. Good enough I guess. I'm used to using the corded so I have all the power I need.
