Upgraded to iOS 15.2.1 and checked for Parts and Service History under Settings > General > About. As there was no Parts and Service History, the battery is not a replacement. Any battery replacement, whether genuine Apple or third-party, would show up in the history.
For XRs (unlike 12s or 13s), screen replacements will not show up in the history. A visual examination of my XR doesn't show any obvious evidence of screen replacement.
Posted by another user, FYI: For those who are wondering if you want to do a return, Yes you do have to pay return shipping if it was delivered to you. If you refuse the package you will not have to pay return shipping. For returning, USPS(Postal Service) First Class with tracking or Priority mail recommended but UPS and Fedex should work as well. (ALWAYS make sure you get tracking on your package or it can complicate your return and or cause a return to "have no evidence of arriving")

Trade-in Options (From asianman35, Post 1156):
1. trade in to best buy for $190 gift card
2. trade in to apple for $200 gift card
3. trade in to gamestop for $210 credit or $168 cash
4. use to trade in with your carrier (sprint seems to be a great deal right now)
5. activate and hope that it unlocks after 60 days? some people are saying this wont happen since these have been activated on totalwireless already (hence theyre refurbs).

Well as per the new policy after take over from Verizon in November,Tracphone has updated its unlocking policy for apple devices to be 60 days post activation if activated after Nov 23rd-2021
That said,I have reached to multiple customer care rep and have even called and the fact that it gets unlocked after 60 days is something they all echoed but there was difference on if it active service or just first month of activation. There is no proven way until Jan 23rd to see when this first set of deals got launched to see how it goes.
The unlocking policy does mention it will automatically unlock after 60 days - But if some one or most of the folks trading in should not have a problem .If you plan to keep this phone for a longer run and use it I would activate the service for the second month to avoid any hassle in pushing Customer rep to unlock .As i did call out we will have to wait to see how it actually works. Its an additional $20-$22 to get some total wireless prepadi cards on sale or deals.
In the worst case if this not does not get honored we can still encash for trade in or other options to sell this for cash.
Any one with still having doubts on the unlock policy can contact customer care for their satisfaction before they jump in - however as i mentioned its more of waiting game as I did realize it was not consistent reply.

1st phone has white spot and sent to Apple. Apple denied the warranty due to 3rd party modification, and I think the screen is replaced. Still under warranty until 04/22, which is useless.
2nd phone, screen is cracked and screen is replaced too. Still under warranty until 03/22, which is useless too.
3rd phone, heavily used and out of warranty. Screen seems original. I can see bad scratch front and back.
Be very very careful and know you are taking your chance.
Purchased reconditioned iphone 6s from them before. the screen was very yellowed and was bulged out as well. however, still had a few months of warranty left. i honestly didn't know, just thought it was a bad screen from apple since the rep from tw said all fixings had been done by authorized parties and even told me to take to apple for warranty services.
the tech at apple was very nice. he said this was a 3rd party job but since i still had warranty on the phone, they were going to save me the hassle and gave me a replacement. He went inside for 5 minutes and came out with a brand new, sealed Iphone 6s box. he said they were out of 6s warranty replacements so he just replaced mine with a new one. He said he couldn't give me the box because he had to put my phone in it as record for the replacement. He even asked if i wanted the cable, charger and earphones, all the accessories inside but i told him i still had the charger and cable at home and didn't use earphones. I just took the phone itself and left.
When I told my family later that day, they told me i should have taken the accessories as well because real apple accessories that come with the phones are expensive and are not the same as the ones i buy on ebay/amazon. Yeah, I was really naïve when it came to tech back then and no one told me about accessory qualities. Just changed from Samsung to Apple (6 plus was my first iPhone) and actually threw out all the Apple cables, chargers and earphones I had except ONE iPhone charging cable to use with my samsung charging brick.
goshhh feel so stupid thinking about that now. But I guess I lucked out with that tech.
Funny thing is I misplaced that phone and just found it last week (after several years
All that winding story to say: be careful with tw phones, and tracfone ones too. For a new Apple iPhone user just came from Premium Samsung products, Apple customer service was awesome and very reassuring at the time. Seems like they are becoming more strict?
Good luck to all with the reconditioned phones!
Just go through the activation on their website, you don't need the XR on hand to activate the line. Just IMEI of the phone.

If you receive a dud, you better just dump it to Best Buy or Apple trade in. In my case, i received a cracked screen phone, so I just file Paypal claim. I probably will be blacklisted, but it is ok since I won't buy another TW phone again.

I've been with totalwireless for four years now and service wise I've been pleased. Just not happy with their minimum quality of refurbs.
1st, look at the 2 screws in the bottom. In this black phone, you shouldn't see any silver usage mark and should be black screws. Otherwise, phone is being opened.
2. Check True Tone, if no true tone, 100% fake. But these days, company can fake true tone now.
3. Turn the black color with the highest brightness. The black color should be solid black, no dot or yellow dot or red if it is original.
4. Turn to white color. Original is more yellow and soft, fake is pure white and bright. In the highest brightness setting with white color, the original won't hurt your eyes and is more comfortable. Fake one will hurt your eyes in 2 seconds, since it is very bright white.
5. Change to red earth built in wallpaper. The red should be very solid in color. The fake one is not as solid red and more transparent than original.

The side aluminum frame was all scratched up and the battery health was 85%. Def. was not worth it...
Might be worth the risk for some, but personally I'd get a refurb of a newer phone or a new older model phone than this.
