Wyze is offering their Wyze Cam Plus Lite Monthly Service Plan for 'Name Your Price' a monthly contribution (ranging from $2 to a Custom Amount) for Unlimited Eligible Cameras billed monthly when you opt-in to this service.

Thanks to community member enrights for finding this deal

Note, your subscription will automatically renew at the monthly rate plan that you've initiated, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period

About the Service
  • Cam Plus Lite gives you Wyze Person Detection and 12-second Event videos as often as every 5 minutes, saved in the cloud for 14 days. It will allow you to receive and filter motion Event videos with people in them to make sure the notifications you get are meaningful. This will apply to our current lineup of Wyze Cam models, no matter how many of these devices you have on your account - now or in the future
What camera/line up are currently compatible w/ Cam Plus Lite Service?
  • Wyze Cams v2, v3, Pan v1, Pan v2, and Wyze Cam Outdoor. We need a little more time to make Cam Plus Lite compatible with our video doorbells. If you only have a Wyze Video Doorbell, we will send you another communication later on when it's ready. The cloud recording experience on doorbells will not change on February 15th, it will stay the same for now. Wyze Cam v1 doesn't have the hardware to run Cam Plus Lite and won't be supported

This reddit thread has some good info on setting up a offline Waze storage/alert system. There is some free software to grab the camera feed discussed at first but it looks like using Waze's special RTSP (real time streaming protocol) firmware might be easier. About halfway down someone provides some links to different free software info for setting it up. https://www.reddit.com/r/wyzecam/...ly_though/
Maybe my memory is playing tricks on me, but wasn't this free at first, until they made some excuses and took it away?
While I agree that the person detection got significantly worse, it wasn't a decision that Wyze made. Apple bought xnor, who was the provider and then killed the relationship with Wyze. https://www.theverge.com/2020/1/1...on-feature

That said, with the price increases and decrease in included features, I don't think Wyze is the same instant buy choice it used to be, when looking for 'cheap' cameras.

I had the same email a year ago apparently because I got an email today saying someone else had been paying for mine for a year and it expired today. I remember selecting "any price" of zero a long time ago.

Hey Friend!

For the last year, you've been on the receiving end of a generous gift from another member of the Wyze community. You've been getting Wyze Person Detection on your Wyze Cam v2 or Wyze Cam Pan for free, paid for by another Wyze user!

We hope you've been getting lots of great value from having Wyze Person Detection on your camera. We wanted to see if now you might be in a better position to pay that gift forward and make a contribution to the Wyze community for it. The donation can be as small as you want.

Pay It Forward
We're adding even more reasons to contribute to our name-your-price program. In fact, the program now has an official name. It's called "Cam Plus Lite" and it gives you 12-second motion Events uploaded to the cloud and Wyze Person Detection on ALL your cameras, not just your Wyze Cam v2 or Wyze Cam Pan.

We've automatically enabled Cam Plus Lite on all of your Wyze Cams. It's slowly rolling out to all users who have already gone through the name-your-price funnel now. Once you see it, all you need to do is toggle on Person Detection in Services within the Account tab.

We hope the extra value added by giving you Person Detection on all cameras will be enough to make a small contribution.

I'm ready to pay for Person Detection
Thanks for being a Wyze user!

They decided to make their own software instead of licensing it, and it turned out worse, and they still tried to charge people money for it. Wyze has gone down hill, as shown by this email which is a plea to get people to pay anything into their subscription plan. If they bounce back, I expect this plan to go away and them to screw customers again

I think what they're trying to do is make you pay for the currently free 12 second cloud storage. And after February 15th, anyone buying a new Wyze cam won't have any free cloud storage but has to pay if they want it. I'm ok with it, I'm perfectly happy with microSD card storage and person detection. Granted, it was nice to have that cloud back up in case someone would rip the camera off it's mounting position. I wish Wyze had a doorbell with a built in microSD card. Not sure what will happen to the doorbell cam when you don't want to pay and there's no free cloud storage anymore. It's kind of a dead brick at that point.

You'll still get notifications of branches waving in the wind; it'll just be tagged as a person.

I pay a $1 a month for the service and I'd rather than than paying $10 for some 3rd party software they had to license thus pass along the charge plus some markup. Heck, they are letting you pick your price, offering a pretty full featured security camera service most other companies charge for, better equipment, and dirt cheap equipment prices which are not even subsidized by monthly subscriptions. Man, I sure feel like we are getting "screwed" royally....
