If you use the ps5 as a media source (Netflix, Hulu, ect.), then I guess so. I don't, so I don't have a need for it.

If you have a relatively new tv, the remote it comes with should work on the PS5, like the basic media controls.

I had the PS3 and PS4 media controller... Never used it. This isn't worth it no a days with everything being streamed and a smart tv

Unpopular opinion but I personally feel that the PS5 is not a very good media player. It doesn't support Dolby Vision playback and some apps are severely lacking in features and functionality such as the Disney Plus app which I last checked didn't support 4k playback on the PS5.
