We go on Boy Scout/Cub Scout camping trips in the summer. Those large batteries are nice for fan, and bucket mister over a 2-4 day campout without a recharge station.

I don't understand why the 40volt never go on sale.

It is a big bulky battery, but it does find some use. Mostly, I use them in my brushless chainsaw and my yard trimmer.

I also find them extremely handy for offgrid use. I use them in a hacked manner to charge my phone and to power a fish finder while canoe camping where I don't have access to recharge them. I use a 3D printed contact adapter and a DC buck downconverter to accomplish this.

All that said, a Miady Lifepo4 is probably a better option right now by price if you are not powering a Ryobi tool and just need the 12V power.

Those ones are the non HP batteries. Still a fantastic deal if you have brushed tools that can't take advantage of the HP battery
So the brushed do not utilize the full capability of the HP batteries? I wasn't aware of this. Seems like I'll jump on this deal as one of mine recently died.

I also find the 9ah gives a little more power to my blower than the 4ah. Doesn't make sense to me, but it is absolutely more powerful with the 9. Almost useless without it.
A row of 5 li-ion cells in series gets you to 18v at a relatively low amp output.

Put two of those rows together in parallel and the voltage remains the same, but the available amps double.

More rows, means more amperage from the bigger batteries.

Some tools don't need more amps, others, like your blower, will perform better.

and here is 4ah 2-pack for $50 ... and new (?*)
https://slickdeals.net/f/15561304-factory-blemished-ryobi-one-18-volt-high-capacity-4-0-ah-battery-2-pack-49-99-free-store-pickup-or-10-shipping-49-99

i missed cos their site won't let me list factory blemished alongside new (in order to hide factory reconditioned).

edit*: according to the site the condition is neither new nor blemished nor reconditioned.
edit: ah, 'condition: factory blemished' in the specs.
What exactly does factory blemished entail for those with experience?

for the five tools i've bought recently it's meant 'new'. no marks or scuffs, on the tool nor the box. dto have to call it factory blemished as ryobi/ridgid have a contract with home depot.

note they ship via fedex - something like a cabinet might get a dent - and dto will defer to that 'factory blemished' designation if you should open a ticket with them.

Wish ridgid battery is also on sale
besides the vast selection of tools that are backward compatible, no other brand can compare to the batteries sale that ryobi has.

There needs to be a ryobi battery adapter for dewalt tools. I know there's a bunch for the other way around, but it makes more sense adapting a cheaper, but good battery like these.

It could be done, but because Ryobi still uses stem style batteries that slide into the body of the tool, the result would be pretty big and unwieldly.

picked up the 9ah, I use a 6ah in my kids powerwheels and works well, but kids would like a little more run time.

By contract, Home Depot is the only retailer allowed to sell new Ryobi tools. DTO is owned by the Ryobi's manufacturer. Factory blemished is new. They can't say new because only HD is allowed to sell new Ryobi tools. So to translate, factory blemished = new.

Sheesh we get it. Why do you need to post this in every Ryobi thread?
