The coffee Peet's sells at its own website is roasted upon order. I doubt it sells single origin or other fancy beans at other retailers.

They do. They don't sell Roasted to order, but I doubt after a week in the mail through various climates it really matters.

Horrible deal when you're basically paying $54 for 75 k cups, and Amazon sells the box for just under $35.

I admit I am a Peet's fan. Agree with everyone that you can get better deals on Peet's from Costco, though limited selections. And sometimes, you can get really good deals on some aged Peet's at your local grocery store. I basically order direct from Peet's for special editions - like the current Ethiopian Super Natural. When you order online you can use Peet's GCs from Costco - which are sold at $80 for $100, or 20% off. So when you combine that with the 20% off right now (which occurs different times during the year), you can get a relatively high-end coffee for essentially 40% off with free ship if you order 2 lbs. They ship relatively fast or soon after roasting. And, you can even get some pretty good deals on teas that way. I purchased their matcha green tea that way in the past and it was great.

No, no. You haven't met the hipsters yet. They're all about freshness. Which it actually is pretty tasty if you roast your own coffee. It's like $20 for a stovetop popcorn popper
