So, we activate the basic plan with the device in TW and do not continue the service for the second month but it still gets unlocked after 60 days from the activation date ??

Won't know for sure until after 1/23 when users start unlocking phones - hopefully 2nd month isn't necessary.

Thanks OP. Got two for the kids to use on wifi
Why not give them a month of prepaid service each so they can move towards unlocking and maybe using on your plan when they are old enough.

Makes sense to activate them even if SIM card is removed to start the unlock clock. Adds value to each device and flexibility to use elsewhere at a later date.

Couldn't get the 25% off coupon to work with Simple Mobile. Anyone had the same issue?

TW has always linked sim to IMEI of phone it comes with.
Now that VZ has bought TF/TW no one knows if things will still work the same.

I lost the SIM card my TW phone came with

Can I buy a new TW kit with SIM card and put a 1 month plan on it and wait the 60 days for the unlock still?

Has somebody, outside the US, has been able to purchase from Total Wireless? Ive tried several times to buy the XR but every time my order was cancel due to "we do not accept orders that originate outside of the US". Im thinking of using a VPN but Im just wondering that they not register the IP but check the country of my Card. 🤔

The address that I am sending it is on Texas, so there's no problem on that.

Can this phone be used on AT&T after the 2 months of required service? After 2 months, do we cancel service and then activate with another provider?

Then it will be considered a BYOP phone & likely have issues getting unlocked (however, that's going by the way it's worked in the past, no way to know right now if that will continue).

That has a good chance of happening. I've heard of orders being flagged (not necessarily at Total Wireless but in general) down due to a payment method from a different country.

You can try using PayPal as your payment method instead if that's available in your country. It might just slip through that restriction.

If that doesn't work, you can ask the person who lives at the Texas address you plan on sending the phone to order the phone for you then you can pay them back.
