USB 3 connection implies DisplayLink. Max resolution is 1x 4K and 2x 1080p. Your RTX 3080 won't be used for rendering, as this docking station is essentially a USB video card. Won't help with gaming.

No. I have this. Refresh and video for gaming are not good. It's just fine for Office , Email, Web Browsing. I switched to the Thunderbolt hub and that was good for gaming.

I have an older version of this, the D1000. It has served me well. I'm all about Thunderbolt now, though I still use t as a USB hub connected to a Thunderbolt dock.

Are these good for gaming if you have a bad ass gaming laptop with rtx 3080 to use with external monitors?? or i guess that depends on the monitors huh........

I don't think it would support high refresh rates at 1440p or 2160p for high res gaming. Also, USB 3.0 is slow vs USB-C and TB.

I have a similar but not exactly the same version, the D6000. It has 2 DisplayPorts and 1 HDMI instead of 1DP and 2 HDMI. I was pretty happy with it—I used it with two external monitors plus my laptop screen and that always worked fine. This was for office purposes, no gaming. The various ports also worked pretty well, though I did find the charging off the USB ports quite slow.

And now it's collecting dust. Didn't realize I could maybe sell it for $100...
