Might have to swing by Lowes in the morning. Enjoy my pellet grill and kind of want to check out an offset. Thanks for the heads up.

I don't think I can ever go back to a normal smoker after using a digital electric. I really enjoy not having to babysit the smoker and temperature for 10 hours when smoking certain cuts of meat.

Which electric smoker do you recommend?

I had an electric. Personally, I found the chip tray to be too small and required more maintenance (add chips every 60-90 min) to get a good smoke flavor. Moved to a pellet grill, so I could do much longer cooks without maintaining every hour or so until the stall. More smoke flavor too.

But the good thing about smokers is that there is no wrong choice. Every smoker has it's own market. It's fun to try different smokers and styles. I was thinking of picking this one up just to try a different style, since electric and pellet are all I've tried so far. But I'm holding out for the smoker/grill where the fire box can be removed to use for a small tailgate grill. I need a better grill for tailgating.

I have an electric smoker [amazon.com] and a smoke generator [lowes.com]. You can run it for 10 hrs without any maintenance. Also you can use a wood chips as well as pellets.

Went the electric route & setup a DIY smoke generator using cheap mailbox & A-Maze smoking tray. Get about ~12hrs on a full maze of pellets w/o baby-sitting, unlike the old propane smoker I had

Check your local FB or CL... People give away free these cheap offsets just to have them gone. Not bagging on them, just saying these are free all the time.
For $40 might be worth it if you want new... Id never pay more.

I agree about having to add fuel more often on electric smokers, but in my opinion my pellet smoker doesn't have near the Smoky flavor of my electric MES burning wood chips.

I have smokers. Many and various styles. Please know you will be able to smoke on these and you can produce wonderful meals. But…….. it's a learning curve and these small offset smokers are absolutely more difficult to maintain fire / temp which for a lot of people a deal breaker and they tend to quit smoke cooking because of it. Just know what your $45 bucks is getting you and you'll be happy!

The reviews are horrible. 12% 1-star reviews. One starts, "Just burn your money, don't buy this garbage." lol. Reviews say legs bend. Almost all 1-star reviewers say the paint bubbles right off.

For portable grill we use the weber smokey joe. Everything fits in the bag including coal, oil, paper towels, cookware and the smaller size weber chimney starter. I think i paid $3p for everything a few years ago. Its around $85 now. The models are:

10020 - grill
7154 - bag
7447 - chimney starter

Its easy to pack up and manage. We take it to the park all the time. The only downside is the size...dont expect to cook for more than four people at a time. We can usually get 8 brats or four burgers on at once
