I wouldn't pay $99 for this set. Two of the three tools are relatively inferior. The soldering iron and rotary tool aren't particularly good. That leaves a small battery and the mini glue gun for $99. These smaller tools can often be bought from DTO as "blemished" in the $20 range each - and you're not stuck with a typically less-useful battery. DTO "blemished is new w/ warranty - just DTO's way of getting around HD's Ryobi exclusivity FYI.

Ryobi sells more upscale/improved versions of all of these tools. I own the larger glue gun, larger rotary/Dremel station, and hybrid soldering station.

Soldering Iron - purely portability. Not particularly great but it will do basic jobs. The larger hybrid soldering station uses batteries or AC power, has temperature control, and you can swap out the soldering tips easily if you don't like them. I used the hybrid soldering station for landscape wiring and lighting outside - which was great. I solder in the garage or indoors depending on season. No extension cord and a 3 or 4 ah battery lasts plenty long.

Mini-glue gun - good. Thinking about picking one up (separately) despite having the larger one already. The larger glue gun I have gets insanely hot - the glue smokes sometimes. The mini glue gun uses a coil that heats up when on its base, and consumes smaller glue sticks. Way more portable and won't destroy your hands if you drip glue on them. Probably more appropriate for crafting IMO.

Rotary tool - Bad. Most reviews say it's underpowered. The larger rotary tool station is a bit less portable, hybrid (battery or AC power), has a lot more power (adjustable), and comes with a decent set of starter cut-off blades and tips (not a big deal). The larger/hybrid station could use a longer cable that attaches the tool to the station base. Aside from that, I use it constantly. Batteries seem to last forever too.

Over the past year (s) I have got all 3 for wife for her crafts sans she loves it but have paid like $20 or less for each but some were from direct tools.

Good point. You are right that the figures should be checked first. I didn't say anything about that.

Generally speaking the inverter brings opens a lot of options for qualifying better corded tools and qualifying corded tools you may already own.

I have the 40v ryobi battery, 40v chainsaw, and 40v inverter. Took me a few week to realize how many corded tools I already own that are now essentially cordless using the invertor+battery. If there is a power outage, I can plug my router and modem in to the inverter and be on the internet for about 90 min or more on one battery charge. There's all kinds of benefits to owning the inverter.
Didn't think about the internet before. That's actually a great idea. Thanks
Sounds like you have the 300w inverter w true sine wave you should be able run any Dremel rotary tool

Thanks for all that info. Do you know where I can get a free shipping code for DTO?

Last free shipping offer from DTO was the past holiday so I don't know if it will work today: DTFOMLKSALE

Some people reporting having to add two items to cart to get it to work, then remove the extra item. But, again, I think the code may have expired yesterday.

Not true. I don't even have a dog.

fyi, there are two versions of the dremel. One simple, small one that can be got for $20 at the right moment, and a much larger one with dial. Think it's $55 when on it's best sale price.
I have the one with the 5 speeds I don't know about the other one but here is the 5 newest reviews from Home Depot. This is what's literally in the title for the first 5 reviews (link and picture attached):

5 newest review titles:

1. LIGHT WORK tool
2. It's so weak i'm not sure what this could be
3. Woefully underpowered
4. Not Powerful
5. Great little tool for small jobs

So can't speak for the other ryobi dremel but yeah mine is pretty weak and i'm not the only one who is saying that. even the positive reviews mention it.

if i just want the hobby glue gun (smaller one with holster) and a battery, is this the best deal? I see it's only $30 for the tool but where is a cheap way to get batteries?
