I hate "all-purpose kitchen shears" that don't cut through plastic. Some reviews indicate that.

I buy the cheap Westcott $0.97 scissors at Walmart..

They are cheap.
They are sharp.
They are thin, though.

I wash the Westcott scissors with a sponge. Have never placed them in the dishwasher as they may rust (don't know for sure, but why try?).

At most, I use the Westcott scissors to cut herbs, paper, plastic, etc. I don't use them to cut joints or cartilage.

Here's a better deal at Walmart for only $0.97:

I bought these and they work well. Good quality too.

I got tired of looking for my kitchen scissors so I bought a set of ultra heavy duty scissors. They are so hideous that none of my family will use them, hence, they are never misplaced (insert smiley). I have no idea if they are food safe or not, even so, they work like a dream. These are them:

I am able to cut through all sorts of things in my kitchen. I have been on a quest to standardize all the plastic containers and lids in our home. I use the serrated scissors to cut up the non standard containers so they cannot "magically reappear" (insert another smiley). Anyway, the scissors have cut through everything, and some of those bones/ plastic containers can be stubborn.
