Coming from an IPS that has nice colors but really bothered my eyes. I bought this a week ago

Was worried about the curve, worried about the VA panel but upon getting this, WOW! Best monitor I have ever had, amazing darks, super colors and the curve is awesome! After a few days you do not even know it is curved

Will never go back to a flat panel!

Yes, it is a VA panel but it's one of the better ones. I have this and the colors are great for a VA.

S3220dgf is better and is occasionally the same price.

I got a curved monitor for my wife a couple years back and it has blurry text unless its on a certain setting. Kinda bizzare, as games and text in games looks just fine, but then documents and webpages are fudged. Can't remember what settings caused this, but her settings are set to something along the lines of "staring at the sun". Doesn't bother her but it drives me nuts.

thanks for this feedback, it helps me decide not to buy it. i'll mainly be using it for text viewing, along with charts etc so probably won't be for me.
YA I think you made a good decision. I'm probably going to sell mine of FB and take a loss
as dell wants15% restocking and I have to pay to ship it back

Agreed. I'm keeping it cuz my 12 year old son is already using it for gaming on his PC and Xbox Series X and he still has young eyes to read text in Windows just fine. My eyes are trash at 42 and I doubt I could use this for work when writing reports.

Games look amazing though. I wish it was 4K but I guess it wouldn't be a $300 dollar 165 Hz monitor if it was 4K.

Try before you buy, if possible. I got the 27 inch version (otherwise identical) of this VA curved 1440/165hz) screen and hated it. The colors are awful, difficult to balance and still look off compared to my old IPS screen. Ghosting and black smearing happens in fast games (above 100 fps) and it's harder for me to watch versus my old 75 hz IPS screen.

Maybe just personal preference but the only improvement on this screen is contrast and darker black areas. Not worth the price when I thought VA was an upgrade for gaming. It's not.

Received mine yesterday, and set it up today. So far, so good. Colors, clarity, and viewing angles are all good enough for me. This is also my first curved monitor, and I think it took about 5 minutes to get used to it.

I will say that this thing is huge compared to my prior 27" flat panel, so I'll have to rearrange my desk space in order to make it more gaming-friendly. I'll do that tomorrow, with the goal of actually getting some gaming done on the new display ASAP.

Looking for advice on monitor for work. Is the costco one https://www.costco.com/.product.8320880.html better than the Dell?

Really depends on your use case. Overall, the Dell is superior, imo - at least for gaming. I don't know if the curved feature is important to you, but that LG is a flat screen. Also, response time is relatively poor compared to the Dell (5 ms vs 1 ms) and the max refresh rate is only 75 Hz (versus 165Hz on the Dell via DP, or 144Hz via HDMI). The HDR on the LG is nice, but imo, that doesn't make up for the other shortcomings. If you want HDR, look at the Dell S3220DGF.

For work in general, the LG is probably a good fit.

Got one price matched at Best Buy and compared it to my friend's Samsung Odyssey G7 32" side-by-side on XBox Series X to play Halo. (I know they are completely different price points but my use case is that I wanted a decent budget gaming monitor for casual XBox gaming.)

At less than half the price, it is pretty good value. You need to adjust the settings above and beyond the preset modes. Responsiveness is good (check out the rtings review). Brightness is okay but probably not great in a bright room. The monitor is on the heavy side and the base is awkward/ugly and can wobble. Be careful with it or put it on a monitor mount that can hold such a beefcake. You can definitely tell the difference in quality between this and the G7, but you (mostly) get what you pay for.

exactly. different use cases. both displays are good for their intended purposes, but this is kind of an apples vs oranges comparison.
